What grade did Texas Tech football offense get for subpar performance at WVU?

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. — The Texas Tech football team opened Big 12 play Saturday against West Virginia. Here is the instant report card from the Red Raiders' 20-13 loss to the Mountaineers.

Offense: D

Tyler Shough could be out with a significant injury for the third year in a row. Tahj Brooks had his second consecutive workhorse game in an otherwise disappointing showing for the unit.

Defense: D

Interceptions by Malik Dunlap and Ben Roberts provided a couple of opportunities. Penalties against Jesiah Pierre, Bralyn Lux and Julien (C.J.) Baskerville in coverage contributed to WVU drives that netted 17 points.

Special Teams: B

Drae McCray gave the kickoff-return game a spark. Gino Garcia chipped in a couple of field goals, and coverage units were fine.

Coaching: F

A Joey McGuire fourth-down gamble in Texas Tech's end led to a Red Raiders' fourth-quarter touchdown. But the offense stumbled around most of the game and the defense broke late.

Overall: F

Texas Tech got outplayed by the team picked last in a 14-team Big 12. The Red Raiders delivered a poor effort offensively.
