Golf: Cavaliere, Svoboda and Young are ready to go at the 123rd U.S. Open in L.A.
There will be three familiar names on the tee sheet when the 123rd U.S. Open gets under way Thursday at Los Angeles Country Club. Cameron Young, the reigning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, was a given. He will be joined this week by Andrew Svoboda and Christian Cavaliere, a pair of players from Westchester County who earned invitations via local and final qualifying. More than 10,000 hopefuls attempted to play their way in, so getting to the first tee is kind of a big deal.
