Go for goal: 20 Greater Taunton boys lacrosse players to watch this spring

Another high school lacrosse season is underway in the Greater Taunton area.

Last year, Bridgewater-Raynham (12-7) and Dighton-Rehoboth (9-7) led the way locally, qualifying for their respective postseasons with the Trojans falling to No. 12 Algonquin in the Division 1 Round of 32 while the Falcons fell to No. 9 Groton-Dunstable in the Division 3 Round of 32.

Taunton (4-12) returned to varsity status for the first time since 2018 and scored a non-league season sweep of Norton while Bristol-Plymouth (4-14) performed a non-league season sweep of New Bedford.

This spring so far, all four Greater Taunton boys lacrosse teams have put in some solid outings, with several players rising to the occasion to deliver for their respective teams. Here are 20 Greater Taunton area boys lacrosse players to keep your eyes on this spring.

The Tigers are back again and growing after returning to varsity status last year. Taunton hit a milestone on April 10 with a 4-2 win over Stoughton, the program's first Hockomock League win since returning to the varsity and only its second overall. Senior midfielder Blake Mitchell had a goal and an assist against the Black Knights and has remained a consistent scoring threat for the Tigers along with junior midfielder/attacker Kevin Araujo and eighth grade attacker Shane Lynds, who had a pair of goals against Dighton-Rehoboth. Senior defender Malakai Mchady has been leading the efforts on the Taunton backline while sophomore goalie Oren Cullins has been solid in net, recording 20 saves against Attleboro.

Bridgewater-Raynham

The Trojans are off to another solid start, with sophomore attacker Nikos Triantafillou emerging as a top scoring threat, recording seven goals and a pair of assists against Bishop Feehan. Junior attacker Jayson Kelleher and junior attacker/midfielder Braeden Silva have both notched hattricks so far this season and have been consistent names on the scoresheet. Junior midfielder Colin Fitzsimmons has excelled in faceoffs so far, while senior defender Anthony Mussari has led the efforts on the backline.

Bristol-Plymouth

The Craftsmen are off to much better start this spring, standing just one win short of last year's total just five games into the season. One of the key reasons behind that has been the offensive prowess of senior attacker Andrew Flanagan, who put four goals past Westport in a 10-3 win. Other notable contributors on offense include junior midfielder Jack Nickerson, freshman attacker James Dolan and senior attacker Jake Lamontagne, while junior goalie Kelan Reis has been solid in net.

Dighton-Rehoboth

While the Falcons graduated many key players from last year's squad, several have stepped up to take charge. Junior attacker Jaiden Solitro put in the best offensive performance so far this spring locally as he netted nine goals against Greater New Bedford, while junior midfielder Jack Swan had four goals and an assist against the Bears, and has found his way onto the score sheet in nearly every game. Fellow junior midfielder Julian Bowers has been another top contributor on offense while junior long stick midfielder Xavier Landry and freshman goalie Charlie Rosa have been solid in their defensive efforts.
