Girls swimming: Strong start for Bloomington South in sectional prelims

The Bloomington South girls' swim team got off to a great start in the preliminaries of the East Central Sectional on Thursday in St. Leon.

The Panthers will bring back 23 of their 24 swims, missing the only one due to a disqualification, and put 21 of them in A Finals. Bloomington North will return 20 swims with nine in A Finals and Edgewood will have a lineup of 10 swims, missing out in only one event, with three in the A Finals.

The finals are Saturday with diving starting at 9:30 a.m. and swimming events at 1:30 p.m. The winners and those who meet the state standard automatically advance to the state finals.
