Girls Basketball: Unforgettable performances from Bucks County area hoops stars last week

The regular season is winding down — a few teams have already begun postseason play — and the standout performances, major milestones and legacy-building games are adding up. Check out the best girls basketball performances from the week of Jan. 29.

Neshaminy's Reese Zemitis breaks two records in one week

What a week it was for Neshaminy's star player. On Monday, she broke the team's single-game scoring record — one that she herself had previously set — when she scored 35 points in a win over Nazareth Academy. And on Friday, Zemitis became Neshaminy's all-time scoring leader, scoring 27 points in a win over CR North. She needed eight points to surpass Heather McGinty's record of 1,309 points, set in 1997.

Two new members join the 1,000-point club:

Lola Ibarrondo, Neshaminy

The senior scored her 1,000th career point in Tuesday’s win over Harry S. Truman. The team captain and Holy Family University commit reached the milestone on a 3-pointer from the corner in the first quarter.

Isabella Casey, Germantown Academy

The Patriots’ senior reached a major milestone when she scored her 1,000th career point on Thursday. The Bucknell University commit leads the team in scoring this season.

College Player of the Week: Kara Meredith, Holy Family University

The Archbishop Wood grad delivered an unforgettable performance last week against Goldey-Beacom. The freshman scored 33 points, connecting on 13-of-19 from the floor, with seven 3-pointers, and 10 rebounds. Meredith scored more than the opposing team in the 80-32 win. Meredith recorded career-highs in points, minutes, and rebounds, and also had her first double-double.

Top Performances of the Week:

Lily Hansen, Upper Moreland

She scored 20 points for the second straight game, leading the Golden Bears to a win over New Hope-Solebury.

Ella Brown, Pennridge

With five seconds remaining, Brown scored the game-winning basket to give Pennridge a win over Villa Maria. She finished with a game-high 11 points in the low-scoring 27-26 game. Against Bensalem, Brown scored 24 of her team’s 30 points in a loss, and she had a game-high 22 points in a win over CB West.

Mikel Lancit, Upper Moreland

After trailing 12-4 in the first quarter, Lancit scored 10 points in the second quarter, giving the Golden Bears a lead they wouldn’t lose in a win over Springfield. Lancit finished with a game-high 20 points. She followed with another 20-point game in a victory over Cheltenham.

Izzy Elizondo, New Hope-Solebury

Elizondo had a 25-point outing to lead the Lions to a 63-61 win over William Tennent.

Avery Kocur, William Tennent

The sophomore scored a game-high 22 points, which included a pair of free throws in overtime that secured a 55-53 win over Cheltenham.

Ava Pistone, Quakertown

The senior delivered on Senior Night, erupting for 28 points to lead the Panthers to a 45-36 win over Wissahickon, their second victory of the season. In addition, Pistone contributed seven rebounds, five steals and four assists. She had 16 points in a loss to New Hope-Solebury.

Maddy Patel, Hatboro-Horsham

The junior had quite the week, leading the Hatters to three straight wins. She scored a game-high 17 points to propel the Hatters to a 41-36 victory against a strong Plymouth Whitemarsh team, and followed with 15 points vs. Springfield and 20 points against Quakertown. All three were game-highs.

Madison Duggan, Hatboro-Horsham

The sophomore came off the bench and scored seven points, in addition to a standout effort on defense, in a 43-32 win over Springfield.

Anna Barry, CB East

The senior put up 23 points to lead the Patriots over Pennridge and had a game-high 15 points in a win against Souderton. She also had 26 points in a loss to CR North.

Sofia Vitucci, Pennsbury

She had a game-high 26 points, scoring 10 in the fourth quarter, though the Falcons fell just short against Bensalem. She followed with 22 points against CR South, this time resulting in a 42-33 victory.

Delaney McCaffery, CR North

The senior captain led shorthanded CR North to a huge upset, scoring 26 points in a win against CB East (17-3). She scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, going 9-for-10 from the free throw line. Earlier in the week, she scored a game-high 16 points in a thrilling 46-43 win over CR South in a rivalry game.

Megan Reichenbach, CR North

Her effort on defense helped the Indians secure a big win over CB East, as she fought for rebounds and dove for loose balls in a physical performance.

Ruth O’Keefe, CR North

She connected on four free throws in the fourth quarter to help secure a win over rival CR South. O’Keefe finished with nine points, and also had several crucial rebounds.

Mikayla Donahue, Bensalem

The senior led the Owls with 14 points in a thrilling 44-40 Senior Night win over Pennsbury.

Caleigh Sperling, North Penn

Sperling scored 20 or more points in all three of the Knights games last week, all wins. To start, she had 18 first-half points, finishing with a game-high 20 points in an abbreviated outing in the Knights’ blowout 46-17 win, and followed with 21-points in a victory over Souderton, and finally, 27 points against CB South.

Ashlyn Duffy, Neshaminy

The freshman led Neshaminy in rebounding for three straight games (through Monday), and was second in scoring with 14 points in a win over Harry S. Truman.

Bailey Balkir, Gwynedd Mercy

The sophomore scored a team-high 17 points in a win over Villa Joseph Marie, and she had 12 points in a win over Mount St. Joseph.

Emilia Coleman, Gwynedd Mercy

The sophomore posted a double-double, with 17 points and 12 rebounds, to lead the Monarchs over Mount St. Joseph.

Piper McGinley, Abington

The senior had 11 points and 8 rebounds in a win over Springfield, and she contributed 10 points, 6 assists and 3 steals in a win over Wissahickon.

Regan Przepioski, Archbishop Wood

The freshman had a team-high 7 rebounds, along with 4 points, in a win against PCL opponent St. Hubert’s.

Zamiya Lowe, George School

The freshman posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds in a win against Germantown Friends.
