Girls basketball roundup: Portland St. Patrick, St. Johns record wins

PORTLAND ST. PATRICK 46, PEWAMO-WESTPHALIA 41

PORTLAND — Gracelyn Rockey scored a game-high 17 points and hauled in nine rebounds to help guide the Shamrocks to a CMAC home win over Pewamo-Westphalia. Laynie Meredith chipped in 13 points and grabbed five rebounds for Portland St. Patrick. Elly Bengel finished with a team-high 16 points for the Pirates (0-2, 0-1).

ST. JOHNS 48, IONIA 37

IONIA — Maddy Robinson notched a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Redwings to a nonleague road win over Ionia. Joce Kotowicz picked up 12 points and hauled in 10 rebounds and Isabel Thelen tacked on 12 points and snagged five steals for St. Johns (2-1). Alexias Daugherty finished with a team-high 13 points and Aubree White added on 11 points for the Bulldogs (2-1).

PORTLAND 64, GRAND LEDGE 29

PORTLAND — Summer Stopczynski had 10 points in the opening quarter while helping the Raiders record a nonleague win in their home opener. Lilly Thelen led Portland (3-0) with 14 points, while Malia Thelen and Stopczynski each had 12 points. Alayna Armstrong finished with 11 points for Grand Ledge.

HOLT 71, FLINT CARMAN-AINSWORTH 49

HOLT — Rhema Dozier had 20 points and five assists and Allison Metzger added 14 points for the Rams in their nonleague win. Claire Tobias added eight points and nine assists for Holt.

DANSVILLE 56, PERRY 26

DANSVILLE — Megan Zeitz had a game-high 32 points while leading the Aggies (2-0, 1-0) to a victory over Perry in a CMAC opener. Addyson Lampron led Perry (2-1, 0-1) with 11 points.

OVID-ELSIE 70, MONTROSE 19

MONTROSE — Ava Bates led the Marauders with 20 points and snagged eight steals in a MMAC road win over Montrose (1-2, 0-2). Evalyn Cole scored 19 points, Ellyanna Carman picked up nine points and Lillian Bates chipped in eight points for Ovid-Elsie (4-0, 2-0).

LANSING CHRISTIAN 35, SARANAC 15

SARANAC — Maddie Crawford finished with a team-high 15 points to lead the Pilgrims to a CMAC road victory over Saranac. Ava Mustapha tacked on 10 points for Lansing Christian (3-0, 1-0). Maycee Reed tallied six points for the Red Hawks (1-2, 0-1).

JACKSON NORTHWEST 52, HASLETT 47

JACKSON — Christina Dixon finished with a team-high 12 points for the Vikings in a nonleague loss to Jackson Northwest (3-0). Kaitlyn Johnson tallied nine points and hauled in nine rebounds and Payden Whitmore and Alexis Turner each tacked on seven points for Haslett (3-0). JV score: Haslett d. Jackson

STANTON — Libby Maurer had 19 points and Ivy Davenport added 15 points for the Yellowjackets (0-2) in their loss.

Leah Palacios tallied a team-high 11 points and hauled in seven rebounds for the Quakers in a nonleague home loss to Jackson (1-0). Neveah Reed and Kristy Palacios each tacked on six points and Avyanna Vidal grabbed six rebounds for Eastern (0-3).

EATON RAPIDS -- Avah Vozar scored a team-high nine points for the Greyhounds in a nonleague home loss to Battle Creek Pennfield (1-1). Rylee Winkelman notched eight poInts and grabbed six rebounds for Eaton Rapids (0-3).
