Giants' Taylor, Tyler Rogers describe unique experience as twin relievers

Rogers twins describe unique experience in Giants' bullpen originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

  • Programming note: Alex Pavlovic and Laura Britt's full interview with the Rogers twins debuts at 5:30 p.m. Monday on NBC Sports Bay Area before "Giants Pregame Live," with an encore at 10:30 p.m. after "Giants Postgame Live."

When the Giants signed Taylor Rogers to a three-year, $33 million deal this offseason, San Francisco officially added a set of twin brothers in its bullpen.

Taylor joined his brother Tyler Rogers, who has spent the past four MLB seasons with the Giants. Now, manager Gabe Kapler counts on both as key relievers in the bullpen.

The twin brothers haven't played together in the major leagues, so this season will be a different experience for Taylor and Tyler when the other is out on the mound.

"I probably will still be doing my little nervous pace in the bullpen when [Taylor] is in the game, for sure," Tyler told NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic and Laura Britt on the latest episode of "Giants Talk."

However, don't expect Taylor be showing that he's anxious from the bullpen whenever Tyler takes the mound for his relief appearance.

"I think part of me was nervous because I didn't see his preparation or anything he had done to get ready for that outing," Taylor told Pavlovic and Britt.

"So you're kind of in the dark and you're more into the hoping stage. Whereas now that I've actually got to see him prepare work, it doesn't feel like a hope anymore. It just seems like an expectation that he's going to do well."

If the Giants' bullpen is going to be successful this season and help them reach the playoffs, the Rogers twins will play a significant role.
