Giants’ Joe Judge confident Saquon Barkley can bounce back from torn ACL

On Monday, an MRI confirmed the worst for New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley, and as expected Barkley’s season-ending injury sparked quite the reaction in a week where there were so many injuries around the NFL.

When the Giants drafted Barkley in 2018, they obviously thought very highly of him. Barkley has always been a hard worker striving to be the best and his approach to his recovery will be no different.

Head coach Joe Judge isn’t writing off his running back in the slightest, either.

“I can tell you right now I already know he is going to work as hard as possible,” Judge said. “I tell you what, I said it yesterday and I’ll say it again, I won’t fall asleep on 26, it’s going to be a hell of a story.”

There have been plenty of running backs who have come back strong from the same injury; one that always comes to mind is Adrian Peterson. Judge alluded to players returning from ACL injuries to have bounce-back years.

“I would just say in terms of, you look at some of the other guys around the league who have been able to come back from ACL’s and have tremendous seasons those next years out.”

Following the injury, Barkley went on his Instagram page and deleted all but one post. It was the one that paid homage to Kobe Bryant following his death earlier this year.

However, Barkley has since added a second post that echoes the words of his head coach with the caption, “Gonna be a hell of a story….”

Gonna be a hell of a story….

The deletion of all his previous posts is likely Barkley’s way of getting a fresh start rather than being a sign that he’s unhappy with the Giants.

It’s going to be a long road to recovery for the Penn State product, but thanks to his being in ridiculous shape physically and his impressive work ethic, Barkley should be good as new when he makes his return in 2021.
