Giants’ Dave Gettleman on Aaron Rodgers situation: ‘It’s none of my business’

There is a major rift in Green Bay, where Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is reportedly upset with general manager Brian Gutekunst and throwing around a list of demands (à la Brett Favre).

It remains possible that reconciliation can not be reached and that either Gutekunst is terminated or Rodgers is traded.

While the Packers have insisted Rodgers isn’t going anywhere, rumors to the contrary continue to persist. And on Sunday evening, completely unsubstantiated rumors swirled after it was inaccurately alleged that Rodgers added the New York Giants to a short list of teams he’d accept a trade to.

Ever the visionary, Giants general manager Dave Gettleman addressed that situation long before these false rumors were spread.

“It’s none of my business,” Gettleman told reporters during the NFL draft, adding that he hadn’t called the Packers. “It’s going to cost a motherload for anybody to get him — even though he’s 37 years old.”

The Giants have no interest in a 37-year-old quarterback who would cost an arm and a leg to acquire. That’s because they’re committed to Daniel Jones even though absolutely no one wants to believe it.

“Very frankly, we’ve told you guys over and over and over again, we believe in Daniel,” Gettleman barked.

How many times the Giants and Gettleman have to repeat that same line is unclear, but it no longer seems relevant. An outside narrative has been established and is now being fueled by manufactured internet rumors.

Even if Rodgers were to add the Giants to some imaginary list, it wouldn’t matter. Gettleman isn’t trading away 2022 NFL draft assets and the team is not giving up on Daniel Jones. That’s just the way that it is.
