Gators remain on ESPN’s bracketology bubble ahead of UGA game

Florida basketball has bounced back from a rough start to both the month and the calendar year after dropping its first pair of Southeastern Conference matchups. Now 13-6 with an even 3-3 record in league play, the Gators are looking to move up on the NCAA Tournament bubble.

In Joe Lunardi’s prior update for ESPN, he had the Orange and Blue on the outside of the bubble, sitting among the “Next Four Out” group. Once again, Todd Golden’s team landed in the same spot, joined by the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (who beat Florida earlier in the year), Nevada Wolf Pack and  Virginia Cavaliers (who also beat the Gators earlier in the year).

SEC schools included in the bracket are the Tennessee Volunteers (No. 2), Auburn Tigers (No. 3), Kentucky Wildcats (No. 4), Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 4), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 8), South Carolina Gamecocks (No. 9) and Mississippi State Bulldogs (No. 10). Mississippi State is also among the “Last Four Byes” while the Ole Miss Rebels are among the “First Four Out”.

Former Florida head coach Mike White and the Georgia Bulldogs arrive in Gainesville on Saturday, Jan. 27, to face off with the Gators inside the O’Connell Center. The game is scheduled for an early noon ET start and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
