Gators add 20th commitment to recruiting class of 2024

The Florida Gators’ 2024 football recruiting class is now up to 20 members following the commitment of Cardinal Mooney (Sarasota, Florida) cornerback Teddy Foster.

He broke the news during an Instagram live stream Friday evening, picking UF over Miami and North Carolina. Foster has been considered a Florida lean for a while and he decided to make things official on his birthday. UF’s ability to develop players and a favorable scheme fit were among the deciding factors leading up to his commitment, according to 247Sports.

“One thing that stuck out to me was (Coach Billy Napier) said, coming from Louisiana, he didn’t get five-star recruits and stuff like that,” Foster said. “He may not have gotten those guys there, but he was always able to develop under-recruited guys. I believe right now that I am still raw. I am not done yet. I have only been playing high school football for like a year and a half now.”

Foster is a three-star recruit, ranked highest by Rivals.com at No. 58 among cornerbacks in the class of 2024. He’s far from the top-ranked player in Florida’s class, but he’s a potential diamond in the rough if Napier and Raymond’s collective intuition pays off.

In the SEC, it’s the four and five-star recruits that get the most attention, but it’s unwise to underestimate the three-star and lower players. They’re the hungriest to prove themselves, and Foster’s character is showing already.

Adding him won’t move the Gators up to the No. 2 spot on the team recruiting rankings, but it will help solidify an already elite defensive class.
