FSU football offense 'wins the day' despite limited Brock Glenn | The NoleBook

For the first time this spring, Florida State's offense had the edge on the defense during a practice.

The defense has dominated through the majority of the spring, forcing the offense to play catchup. However, following Thursday's practice, head coach Mike Norvell said the offense "won the day."

"Today was a day that the offense I thought won the day," Novell said. "There were a lot of explosive plays and big runs. I thought some was connecting on big plays. Some of them were mistakes that we were making defensively."

The offense had a strong day without seeing much of one of its top quarterbacks, sophomore Brock Glenn.

Norvell said a "non-football thing" will keep him limited for a few days, but will be ready to get back to work before the spring season is over.

DJ Uiagalelei did most of the heavy work during Thursday's practice at quarterback, but Dylan McNamara, Michale Grant and Trever Jackson had more situational action in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.

Jackson stole the show out of the trio, flexing his speed capabilities on multiple QB keeps.

"He'll be out for a few days, but that gave opportunities for other guys," Norvell said. "Ultimately it's just all part of it."

While the offense had a good day, Norvell mentioned that the defense needed to step up and wasn't performing like it had been.

He liked the defense response toward the end of practice but wants more out of them heading into the final week of spring practice.

"I told these guys you get 10 practices in you've got to push the standard that we operate on every rep and every play," Norvell said. "There are plenty of things that can distract you...and if you allow it you can see a dip in what your performance is."

"I thought there were some times today where we weren't as good as we've been."
