Frank Reich hired as Carolina Panthers head coach

Frank Reich is getting another swing at a head coach position.

The Carolina Panthers hired the former Buffalo Bills quarterback as their next head coach this week. Reich inked a four-year deal with Carolina, according to Panthers Wire.

In November, Reich was fired as the head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. He had a 40-33-1 overall record in Indy.

Reich, 61, has a noted and storied history as a QB with the Bills. He led the largest comeback in NFL playoff history in Buffalo and spent the bulk of his career with the team from 1985 to 1994.

Reich also has a background with Carolina, too.

In 1995, Reich threw the first touchdown pass in Panthers team history.

Ironically enough, it was caught by Pete Metzelaars, another former Bill.

With the addition of a 17th game, there is a chance the Bills and Panthers faceoff sooner than the 2025 season, but as of now, that’s likely the next time Buffalo could face a Reich-led team. The AFC East and NFC South are slated to faceoff against one another that year.
