Four-star TE Davon Mitchell announces top schools
The nation’s No. 1 tight end for the 2025 recruiting class has narrowed his recruitment down to 11 schools.
Four-star Davon Mitchell announced his top schools via Twitter this week. The Longhorns made the cut alongside several other prominent Power Five programs.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound pass catcher is the No. 2 overall prospect in California and the No. 29 ranked player in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.
Mitchell had nothing but positive things to say when discussing Texas as one of his top schools.
When I went to Texas, I enjoyed myself there. The atmosphere was crazy. (Special teams coordinator/tight ends) coach Jeff Banks, he wants me to come play for him. I know they did pretty good with their tight end during the season. They split their tight ends out. They put the tight ends everywhere, so that’s how I like to be used.
Here’s a look at the 11 schools still in the running to land Mitchell.
