Four Mississippi State football kickoff times, TV slots announced — including LSU, Southern Miss

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football's 2023 schedule got some clarity on Wednesday with the program announcing kickoff times and TV allotments for four games.

MSU, under new coach Zach Arnett, opens its season at home against Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 2 (3 p.m., SEC Network). That's followed by another home game against Arizona on Sept. 9 (6:30 p.m., SEC Network). Mississippi State wraps up its opening three-game home stand with a matchup against LSU on Sept. 16 (11 a.m., ESPN).

MSU's penultimate regular season game against Southern Miss will be at 11 a.m. on Nov. `8. That game will be on SEC Network+

MSU takes on Southeastern Louisiana for just the second time in program history. The Bulldogs handled the first meeting en route to a 34-10 win at home in 2008.

The matchup with Arizona wraps up a home-and-home which saw MSU win 39-17 in Tucson last year. That was the first-ever meeting between the programs.

This marks the fourth straight year where Mississippi State opens SEC play against LSU. It started in 2020 when MSU took a stunning win in Baton Rouge against the defending champions. LSU has won the last two meetings by a combined 18 points.

Mississippi State has won its last five meetings against Southern Miss with the last meeting coming in 2019.

The first three games this year highlight a home-heavy schedule for the Bulldogs. MSU has eight games at Davis Wade Stadium, including the Egg Bowl. It was announced last week that MSU and Ole Miss will again play on Thanksgiving. Game is 6:30 p.m. on ESPN.
