Four Bengals starters injured in first half

Four Cincinnati Bengals went down with injuries in the first half of their Friday exhibition game against the New York Jets, NFL.com reported.

Guard Travelle Wharton, middle linebacker Rey Maualuga, defensive end Carlos Dunlap and safety Taylor Mays each left the game.

Wharton was carted off the field with an apparent right knee injury and will not return to the game.

Maualuga was helped off the field with a right knee injury. His return was not immediately known.

Dunlap left with a right knee injury and was not expected to return to the game.

The three were injured in the first five minutes of action.

Mays left the contest early in the second quarter after taking a hit to the head. His return was questionable.
