Former Tennessee RB Len’Neth Whitehead transferring to Georgia

Former Tennessee Volunteers running back Len’Neth Whitehead plans to transfer to the University of Georgia. Whitehead missed both the 2020 and 2022 college football seasons with injuries. In 2021, the former four-star recruit had 32 carries for 207 rushing yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns. Whitehead has one career reception for 10 yards.

Whitehead provides depth for the Georgia running back room, which is banged up.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pound running back may not be immediately eligible at Georgia. He could be a walk-on. Whitehead has three years of eligibility remaining, but he may not be able to suit up for the Bulldogs in 2023 because he is transferring within the conference and it is beyond the deadline for that. Whitehead entered the transfer portal in December.

Whitehead played high school football at Athens Academy. Whitehead was the No. 143 recruit in the class of 2020, per 247Sports. Whitehead played both linebacker and running back in high school, but became a running back in college. Now, he returns home to Athens.

Whitehead missed the 2022 season with an upper body injury.

Whitehead is a taller running back. He has good speed and power. The Athens native is a good blocker, too. Here’s a look at highlights from his 2021 college football season:
