Former Patriots WR Julian Edelman tells hilarious Randy Moss story

Randy Moss is thought of as one of the greatest wide receivers of all time. He was also known to trash talk a bit during his time in the NFL, especially as a member of the New England Patriots.

Former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman spoke at length about his Patriots tenure during an episode of Games with Names on Tuesday. He had a funny anecdote about Moss in particular. Let’s just say Moss wasn’t thrilled by a particular set of coverages New England was running defensively.

Blitz Zero was the play New England ran when the New York Giants recorded their game-winning touchdown reception in Super Bowl XLII. It’s the Super Bowl most commonly known for the catch by David Tyree. However, Tyree’s catch set up Plaxico Burress for the actual touchdown, a touchdown catch that gave the Giants a 17-14 victory.

Randy Moss never let then-defensive coordinator Dean Pees forget it, either.

“I had to hear Randy Moss b**** at Dean Pees for three years every Friday at practice,” Edelman recalled, “saying, ‘Hey Dean, that f****** blitz zero, Eli and Plaxico got that s***, Dean. Better throw that bulls*** out.’ I swear to God I have nightmares of that.”

Moss would never win a Super Bowl with New England, while Edelman would become a staple of the Patriots offense. Nevertheless, Moss made sure his opinion was heard, as a  result of a drive that will live in infamy for Patriots fans.
