Former Georgia LT Andrew Thomas signs monster contract extension

Former Georgia Bulldog offensive tackle Andrew Thomas signed a massive five-year, $117.5 million contract extension with the New York Giants. Thomas’ deal with New York comes as the Giants start training camp.

Thomas is one of the best left tackles in the NFL. He fills a position of great need for the Giants. New York has struggled along the offensive front since  winning two Super Bowls during the Eli Manning era. Now, the Giants have their guy at left tackle for the long haul.

Thomas is entering his fourth season in the NFL. He has 44 starts in his NFL career. Thomas struggled as a rookie, but he has adapted nicely to the NFL.

Thomas, who is an excellent athlete, caught a touchdown pass for the Giants back in 2021. Thomas’ contract features $67 million in guarantees. He is the second-highest paid offensive tackle in NFL history.

Thomas played three seasons at the University of Georgia before declaring for the 2020 NFL draft. At UGA, he earned immediate playing time against elite competition, including a start in the 2018 national championship game.

The New York Giants selected Thomas with the fourth pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Thomas was the 2020 NFL draft’s highest offensive lineman selected. He set the record as the earliest drafted offensive lineman from the University of Georgia.

The Giants announced Thomas’ massive contract extension via social media:
