Football Roundup: Decatur advances, rest of Bayside South falls in first round of playoffs

Round 1 of the MPSSAA Football Playoffs came to a close Friday night for Bayside Conference teams, and only 1 Bayside South team is left standing.

Undefeated Stephen Decatur hosted Easton in the first round of regional playoffs Friday night, and the Seahawks took care of business like they have all year, defeating the Warriors 49-7. The No.1 seeded Seahawks will be back in Berlin next week, as they host Queen Anne's with a spot in the state quarterfinals on the line.

Queen Anne's defeated James M. Bennett 49-7 on Thursday night to punch their ticket to the second round. Also taking place Thursday night was Snow Hill's home playoff game against Kent County, as the Eagles fell behind early and were unable to make up the deficit, with Kent County pulling off the 34-18 upset in Worcester County. Washington, the Bayside South's second Class 1A school, also lost on Thursday night, falling to Cambridge-South Dorchester 51-6.

Parkside lost on Friday night to Kent Island, 46-7, ending the Rams season. And Wi-Hi also lost to North Caroline, 26-6, setting up a massive battle next week between Bayside North squads Kent Island and North Caroline for a spot in the state quarterfinals.
