Final Four rematch. LSU women's basketball, Virginia Tech to play in ACC/SEC Challenge

A Final Four rematch is officially on the books. And LSU women's basketball's 2023-24 nonconference schedule is getting tougher.

Reigning NCAA championship LSU women's basketball is slated to host Virginia on Tech Nov. 30 as part of the ACC/SEC Challenge. Tip-off has been announced for 8 p.m. CT inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The news comes the same day as the Southeastern Conference unveiled its 2023-24 schedule and LSU's is highlighted by a home game against 2022 national champion South Carolina, which is led by Dawn Staley, as well as road trips to Tennessee and Ole Miss.

LSU, which Kim Mulkey guided two days later to a win over Iowa in the national championship game, knocked off the Hokies, 79-72, in the program's first Final Four game since 2008 in Dallas.

Virginia Tech will be tough and a main player on the national stage once again in the 2023-24 season as its top two players, forward Elizabeth Kitley and guard Georgia Amoore, are back to anchor Kenny Brooks' squad.

Despite capturing its first national title, LSU has gotten better this offseason with adding the top two transfers in Louisville guard Hailey Van Lith and DePaul forward Aneesah Morrow. Star forward and NCAA championship game MVP Angel Reese is back along with wing Flau'jae Johnson.

Last season, Mulkey and the Tigers took a lot of flack about the strength of the nonconference schedule, which consistently ranked over 200. But this coming season's slate is already much stouter.

It was announced last week that LSU will play in the Hall of Fame Classic event and open the season Nov. 6 against Colorado, which should be a top-25 ranked opponent, in Las Vegas. Before the matchup with Virginia Tech at the end of November, the Tigers will take part in the Cayman Islands Classic, where other strong teams like UConn, Virginia Tech an UCLA will play as well.

With LSU and the Hokies playing Nov. 30, it's likely they won't play in the Cayman Islands.
