Joseph missed practice Wednesday and is expected to miss Friday’s exhibition game against Australia. Canada Basketball has yet to comment on Joseph’s uncertain status.

After a host of NBA players dropped out of the tournament after the initial training camp roster was announced, Joseph was expected to lead Canada’s efforts during September’s World Cup.

"I understand, all these guys are my friends. I've talked to many of them and it's just one of those things that you get the guys that are at camp and you go down and try to win games,” Joseph told Sportsnet’s Michael Grange.

Orlando Magic centre Khem Birch and Joseph are the only two NBA players that are expected to be on the team’s roster prior to their opening game now.

Joseph, a free agent this summer, signed with the Sacramento Kings in July.
