FHSAA regional boys weighlifting meets begin Friday: See Volusia-Flagler area's qualifiers

The top weightlifters in Volusia and Flagler counties will take their shot at qualifying for the state championships this weekend.

Regional meets will be held throughout Florida, and dozens of local lifters will compete at three sites Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Defending Class 3A champion Spruce Creek will bring 23 athletes to the Panhandle, the largest group of any area team.

DeLand, Matanzas, New Smyrna Beach and University will also be well represented after impressive showings at district events last week. Matanzas' Cole Hash and the New Smyrna duo of Isaiah McCloud and Ryan Geary will look to defend individual state titles in their respective weight classes.
