Fantasy Football: Potential bargains, must-plays from Giants-Patriots game

The New York Giants (3-8) face the New England Patriots (2-8) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey this Sunday afternoon.

It is the least attractive matchup on the slate this weekend as it features the two lowest-scoring teams in the NFL this year.

Still, there is fantasy football to take into account and there has to be some value somewhere in this game, no?

Here are three angles to consider.

Giants defense

The Giants’ defense is coming off a great week in which they led the NFL in fantasy points. Big Blue had four sacks, three interceptions, three fumble recoveries and a defensive touchdown.

They face a New England offense that has averaged just 13.1 points per game over their last three and has not yet named their starting quarterback for this week.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley is always a must when looking at options for the Giants. He racked up 30 FPS against Washington last week and has had at least 14 FPS in every game except the two blowout losses to Dallas, in which game conditions kept the ball out of his hands.

This won’t be a blowout, so expect Barkley to get his usual share of touches. The Pats are in the middle of the pack when it comes to defending running backs this year, so he’s well-placed here.

Patriots WR Demario Douglas

Demario Douglas, the rookie out of Liberty, has become the Patriots’ top wideout over the last month. He has been targeted at least six times in each of the last four games.

Over that period, he has averaged 11.05 FPS on DraftKings over that period and facing a Giants defense that has allowed the fourth-most FPS to wide receivers this year.
