Fantastic Five MetroWest & Milford high school athletes from the long weekend

No rest for these Fantastic Five athletes. While a long holiday weekend can be a time to rest and reflect, these MetroWest and Milford athletes kept the pedal to the metal.

They starred over the past few days, so without further ado, the Fantastic Five athletes for the long weekend:

ALEX BURGOS, Blackstone Valley boys basketball

He poured in 25 points with six rebounds and five assists in a 62-52 overtime win over Bay Path on Friday. Jon Powell scored all six of BVT's points in the OT period and finished with 13 in the game. Corey Magill hit three 3s and scored nine for the Beavers (4-4, 3-0 Colonial).

NIKO CHAPLAIN, AMSA boys basketball

He hit four 3s and scored 22 points in the Eagles 46-31 win over Assabet on Friday. Braden DeZutter contributed 12 points for AMSA (2-6, 2-2 Colonial). Anthony Baum led Assabet (1-7, 1-3) with 12 points.

SAMANTHA COLLETTE, Hudson girls basketball

She led the Hawks with 12 points, nine rebounds and five steals in a 53-45 win over Notre Dame Academy on Saturday. Daria Giorgi Woodford had 12 points and five rebounds. Madeline Haher (six rebounds, three steals) and Audrey Lenox (three rebounds0 added nine points each for Hudson (6-4).

ALEX PECK, Natick boys hockey

He scored two goals, including the overtime winner, in a 3-2 victory over Milton on Saturday. Jack Byrne put away his first varsity goal, and Jeff Tavares made 21 saves for the Redhawks (21).

MOLLY ROSS, Wayland/Weston girls hockey

The senior notched three goals and four assists in an 8-0 win over Cambridge Rindge & Latin on Saturday. Katie Lamb added three assists. Coco Curran put away two goals with one assist, while Angela An scored twice. Mackenzie Regan scored once. Lexi Roman, Niall Cahalane, Hailey Pelzar and Eliza Cavaluzzi each provided an assist. Goalie Tilly Myles notched a shutout for Wayland/Weston (4-4, 2-3 MVC/Dual County).

Boys basketball

HOPEDALE 57, Blackstone-Millville 30: Patrick Madden and Robbie Manning scored 13 points each for the Blue Raiders on Friday. Cam Parker added eight points and eight rebounds for Hopedale (5-5, 1-3 Dual Valley).

NIPMUC 67, Whitinsville Christian 43: Brayden Kelly hit six 3s and poured in 20 points for the Warriors on Friday. James McKinney (16) and Chase Kelly (14) also hit double figures for Nipmuc (7-2, 3-1 Dual Valley).

ALGONQUIN 57, Wachusett 50: Jordan Lopez led three double-digit Titan scores with 16 points Friday. Thomas Boudrea added 12, and Andrew Eiben scored 10 for Algonquin (3-7, 1-3 Mid-Wach A).

WESTBOROUGH 61, Marlborough 50: Nicholas Bellogatto ignited for 25 points for the Rangers (7-1, 4-0 Mid-Wach B) on Friday. Alec Esrosiers and Justin McCafferty each added 12 points for Westborough. Ryan Dillon led the Panthers (1-6, 0-4) with 15 points, and Jahki Brookins canned three 3s en route to 11 points.

CLINTON 59, Hudson 53: Jake Attaway scored 21 points for the Hawks (5-5, 2-3 Mid-Wach C) on the road Friday. Jackson O'Brien contributed 14 points for Hudson.

Girls basketball

BAY PATH 57, Blackstone Valley Tech 54: Danika Kirby splashed three 3s and scored 16 points for the Beavers (4-5, 3-1 Colonial) in an overtime loss Friday. Skyla Jack (11 points) and Mara Keane (10) joined her in double figures.

AMSA 37, Assabet 9: Riley Whittier led the Eagles  (7-2) with 10 points Friday. Eliza Tardif had five for Assabet (0-8).

WHITINSVILLE CHRISTIAN 28, Nipmuc 21: Paige Anderson had nine points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors on Friday.

WACHUSETT 70, Algonquin 30: Sophia Hjerpe led the Titans (4-5, 0-3 Mid-Wach A) with eight points Friday.

HUDSON 57, Clinton 20: Four Hawks reached double figures in the victory Friday. Madeline Haher led Hudson (5-4, 2-3 Mid-Wach C) with 11 points and eight rebounds. Samantha Collette also scored 11 points with six rebounds while Emma Leonardo (four steals) and Anna Iacobucci chipped in 10 points each.

Boys ice hockey

NORTHBRIDGE 4, Hudson 2: Riley O'Sullivan and Owen Nanartowich scored and Brandon Garzia made 14 saves for the Hawks (4-6, 4-3 Russell) on Monday.

ALGONQUIN 8, Minnechaug 0: Nate Gulachenski scored twice, Sam Yosca had two assists, and Ben Yosca and Jack Gulachenski each added a goal and assist to propel the Titans (5-3-2) on the road Saturday. Jared Walsh, Gilbert Prepetit and Nathan Meschisen also scored, while Nicholas Robbins posted the shutout.

HOPEDALE 5, East Longmeadow 4: Aiden Collins netted his second goal of the game to tie early in the third period, and Sean McGee's second of the game was the winner with 1:37 left for the host Blue Raiders (3-5-1) on Saturday. Dom Dutcher and David Fleming each had two assists for Hopedale.

BLACKSTONE VALLEY 4, Ludlow 3: Joseph Manzi scored with 46 seconds left to propel the Beavers (7-2) on Saturday. Teammate Thomas Liddy netted two goals, and Jack Eastwood added one.

Girls ice hockey

ST. MARY'S 4, Algonquin 3: Lauren O'Malley, Annabelle Biagini and Brooke Cutler scored and Addy Cagan made 25 saves, but the Titans (4-4) fell in the first round of the Martha's Vineyard Tournament on Saturday.

ALGONQUIN 4, Marthas Vineyard 0: Emily Johns contributed three points with a goal and two assists in the Titans (5-4) victory Sunday.

Girls swimming & diving

WESTBOROUGH 99, Gardner 70: Caitlyn Reitsma won the 50-yard freestyle Friday, while Savannah Spring (100 butterfly) and Sophie Robinson (100 freestyle) also picked up event wins for the Rangers (5-1, 4-0 Mid-Wach).

Swimming & diving

ALGONQUIN 103, Worcester 55: Brendan Yan won the 200 free and 100 breaststroke for the Titans. Algonquin's Nina Chung captured the 200 individual medley and 500 free.
