How every Houma- and Thibodaux-area high school bowling team fared in LHSAA Tournaments

High school bowling season in the state of Louisiana is over.

Eight Houma- and Thibodaux-area teams qualified for the LHSAA bowling tournaments. The boys championship is split between Division I and Division II, while the girls championship is consolidated into one bracket. For all three tournaments, only 16 teams across the state qualified.

The format for each match is also unique. Each team brings in six bowlers, with the highest-scorers typically at the end of the lineup. Each match has 27 points available, so the first to 14 wins. There are three ways points can be scored: first, if a bowler wins his or her game, that's one point for their team. Each bowler will compete in three games. Secondly, a bowler's total pins in his or her game can score two points for their team. Finally, at the end of the match, total pins for both teams are counted, and whichever team knocked down more pins gets three points. In the event of a tie, both teams are awarded half points.

Here's how every Houma- and Thibodaux-area team did:

A.J. Ellender boys

The Patriots faced long odds as the 15-seed in Division II, and couldn't pull off the upset over their rival, 2-seed South Terrebonne, losing 22-5.

CL's girls team clinched the 6-seed in the girls championship, and opened the tournament with a 23-4 win over No. 11 Lafayette. However, the Lady Trojans' run came to an end with a 22-5 loss to third-seeded Albany in the quarterfinals.

Central Lafourche boys

Like the girls, the CL boys also qualified for the tournament. The Trojans clinched the 11-seed in Division I, but lost in the first round to 6-seed Brother Martin, 17-10.

E.D. White boys

E.D. White clinched the 8-seed in Division II, and opened the tournament with a 22-5 win over Belaire. However, the Cardinals' tournament run came to an end in the quarterfinals, falling to top-seeded Archbishop Shaw, 22-4.
