ESPN FPI ranks Patriots’ 2023 schedule as hardest in NFL

The New England Patriots may have an uphill battle heading into the 2023 season, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. Per Seth Walder, the Patriots will have the hardest schedule in the NFL this coming season.

Just one look at the schedule and it’s easy to see why they’ll have their hands full. It starts out with the Philadelphia Eagles and features games against the Miami Dolphins, new-look New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers and Kansas City Chiefs, just to name a few.

This may not be encouraging news for a team that is looking to get back onto the winning side of the equation. However, they have new pieces both on the roster and within the coaching staff. Those factors, and the need for Mac Jones to step up in his third season, could make for some interesting storylines in 2023.

New England will look to embark on a playoff push and make up for missing it last season after finishing with a losing record.
