Enquirer names Greater Cincinnati high school athletes of the week, May 3

In a vote that ended May 3, Cincinnati.com readers selected the Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athletes of the Week from high school sports action through April 28.

The Enquirer has mailed certificates for winter winners through April 5 to athletic departments. The next round will go out in late May and early June.

The Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Athlete of the Week voting occurs during all high school seasons and recognizes athletes across all sports. Here are this week's winners.

Ohio baseball team: Western Hills – The Mustangs beat Hughes 16-0 and Woodward 17-2 before a 1-0, perfect game win over Aiken.

Ohio softball team: Lakota East – Lakota East topped Mason, Sycamore and Middletown twice to extend a winning streak to eight games.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana baseball team: Bishop Brossart – The Mustangs started their 3-1 week with an extra-inning 5-4 win over Scott before topping Newport 15-0 and Pendleton County 14-3.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana softball team: Cooper – Cooper has won six straight after beating Boone County, Conner, Lloyd and Beechwood.

Boys spring team: Batavia tennis – Batavia won Flight L of the GCTCA Coaches Classic.

Girls spring team: Lakota East lacrosse – The Thunderhawks topped Oak Hills 17-5, mounted a comeback to beat Lakota West 12-10 and then beat Miamisburg 16-3 to extend their winning streak to five games.

Ohio big-school baseball: Jacob Boland, Fairfield – The senior pitched a no-hitter with 11 strikeouts in a 4-1 win over Colerain.

Ohio small-school baseball: Derek Richardson, Batavia – The junior pitched six innings, allowing one run, and had two hits including a double in a 5-1 win over Goshen.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana baseball: Issac Amin, Bishop Brossart – He had a double and two RBI in a 5-4 9-inning win over Scott in district play.

Ohio boys big-school lacrosse: Nick Tserng, Lakota East – He had four goals and an assist in an 11-10 win over Oak Hills, and two goals in a 7-6 win over Lakota West.

Ohio boys small-school lacrosse: Gabe Scruggs, Wyoming – He had four goals apiece in a 6-4 win over Turpin and a 17-2 win over Seven Hills.

Ohio girls big-school lacrosse: Addy Dailey, Lakota East – The junior had four goals in a 12-10 win over Lakota West.

Ohio girls small-school lacrosse: Kamdyn Buck, Edgewood – She had 14 goals in three games, including six in an 11-4 win over Princeton and four in a 10-8 win over Lima Senior.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys lacrosse: Bryson White, Ryle – The junior had four goals and three assists in a win over Dixie Heights.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls lacrosse: Samantha Sandefur, Cooper – The junior had seven goals and four assists combined in wins over Dixie Heights and Atherton.

Ohio big-school softball: Sasha Emmrich, Oak Hills – The freshman smashed three home runs, drove in five runs and scored four times in a win over Colerain.

Ohio small-school softball: Erica Kuhnash, Badin – She hit for the cycle against Chaminade Julienne, scoring four runs and driving in three as the Rams clinched the Greater Catholic League-Coed title.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana softball: Julia Starr, Holmes – She went 4-for-4 with four RBIs and a run scored in a win over Newport. She also picked up the win while striking out five batters.

Ohio boys singles tennis player: Justus Willenbrink, Batavia – Willenbrink was the second singles champ at the GCTCA Coaches Classic Flight L, helping Batavia to win the flight.

Ohio boys doubles tennis team: Logan Roller-Enzo Santoro, Batavia – In the Coaches Classic Flight L, the two were the champions of the first doubles.

Northern Kentucky boys singles tennis player: Tyler Arlinghaus, Holy Cross – Arlinghaus was the lone winner for Holy Cross against Campbell County, winning his second singles match 6-2, 6-0.

Northern Kentucky boys doubles tennis team: Cameron Wells-Christopher Wells, Campbell County – The Wells duo won 6-1, 6-1 in first doubles over Holy Cross, leading the Camels to a 4-1 win.

Northern Kentucky girls singles tennis player: Grace Summe, Notre Dame – Against Ryle, Summe had a 6-1, 6-0 victory in third singles, helping the Pandas to a 3-2 win as a team.

Northern Kentucky girls doubles tennis team: Cassidy Derry-Emma Zimmer, Dixie Heights – The duo were winners in first doubles against Scott, winning their match 6-0, 6-1.

Ohio big-school boys track & field: Tommy Hicks, Little Miami – He won the discus at the Panthers’ home meet, throwing 135 feet, 3 inches. He also won the shot put with a put of 44 feet, 1.5 inches.

Ohio small-school boys track & field: Max Snellgrove, Badin – He won the 100-meter dash at Monroe in 22.61 seconds, then clocked a new personal best in the event at Ross with a time of 22.57 seconds.

Ohio big-school girls track & field: Jesslyn Roberts, Milford – The freshman tied the pole vault school record when she cleared 10 feet at the Eagles’ home meet.

Ohio small-school girls track & field: Jonah Rodriguez, Mariemont – The junior recorded a new personal best of 18.79 seconds to win the 100-meter hurdles at Goshen. She also won the 300-meter hurdles and ran in the winning 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana boys track & field: Luke Erdman, Beechwood – At the Kenton County championships, he won the 100-meter dash in 11.09 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 22.65 seconds. Erdman also set a personal best of 21 feet in the long jump and ran on the school record-breaking 4x100 meter relay team. Later in the week, he won the 100-meter dash, took second in the 200-meter dash and third in the long jump at Bishop Brossart.

Northern Kentucky/Indiana girls track & field: Maryah Counts, Beechwood – She broke the 400-meter school record when she crossed the finish line in 58.99 seconds at the Kenton County championships, then won the same event at Bishop Brossart in 59.50 seconds.

Boys volleyball: Jonah Habedank, La Salle – The junior had eight kills and a team-high six blocks in four sets at Moeller on April 25.
