Edmeston/Morris shuts down Worcester in 42-28 win

Dec. 19—The Edmeston/Morris girls basketball team used a great defensive performance to defeat Worcester 42-28 in Morris Tuesday in Tri-Valley League play.

Molly Rifanburg led E/M with 15 points in the win while Hannah Wist and Haylie Lund each had six points.

Angel Mravlja and Faith Meiser led the Wolverines with eight and seven points, respectively.

E/M (6-1) will face Oxford next Thursday while Worcester will be at Sharon Springs this Thursday.

Walton/Downsville 57, Margaretville 20

The Walton/Downsville girls defeated Margaretville 57-20 at home Tuesday.

Grace Walley was the top scorer with 12 points to go with six steals and five assists.

Kennedy Williams and Ella Beardslee each had 10 points, Alivia Conklin notched nine points and 10 rebounds and Kahrin Vesterfelt finished with eight points and five steals.

Margaretville's Ana Gavette finished with a team-high 12 points.

W/D will be at home against Unatego Thursday.

Cooperstown 68, Morrisville-Eaton 18

Cooperstown took down Morrisville-Eaton 68-18 at home Tuesday.

Mia Kaltenbach led the way for the Hawkeyes with 22 points while Rory Nelen followed close behind with 19 points.

Cooperstown will be at Mount Markham Thursday.

Cherry Valley-Springfield 56, Sharon Springs 22

Cherry Valley-Springfield rolled to a 56-22 win over Sharon Springs in Tuesday's Tri-Valley League contest.

Brin Whiteman led the Lady Patriots with 17 points while Mia Dubben also finished in double figures with 13 points.

Lilly Tessier paced Sharon Springs with seven points.

CV-S is off until Wednesday, Jan. 3 when it visits Gilbertsville-Mount Upton.

The Cooperstown volleyball team fell to Mount Markham in four sets Monday by scores of 23-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-13.

The Hawkeyes' top performers in the loss were Sophia Hotaling with 34 digs, Alexis Wolfe with four assists and two aces, Lucy Hayes with four kills, two blocks, 10 digs and 10 assists, Violet Gentiles with three blocks and 10 digs and Mia Pelcer with three kills and 12 digs.

Cooperstown will host Sherburne-Earlville Thursday.
