Eclipsing the competition: Top Greater Taunton H.S. sports performers for April 8-14

The spring high school sports season keeps rolling on in the Greater Taunton area.

After nearly all area teams kicked off their seasons last week, the remaining teams start this week while others look to build on early momentum or turn things around.

Here's a look at all of the stats, scores and highlights from the second week of April.

Saturday

Baseball

Andrew Cali went 0-for-1 with a run and a pair of walks while Brayden Cali went 0-for-3 with an RBI as Taunton (4-2, 4-1 Hockomock) fell 8-1 to BC High at home in non-league action. Johnny Escobalez was credited with the loss for the Tigers after going three innings giving up four runs on four hits and a pair of walks while striking out three. Cam Tomaszycki tossed 3⅔ innings in relief giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits while striking out three before Alex Hebert Jr. struck out the only batter he faced.

Bobby Quill, Owen King, Jack Haley, Ryan Stasiuk and Jack Spearin got a hit each as Bridgewater-Raynham (2-2) fell 8-0 to Framingham at home in non-league action. Jack Ritchie was credited with the loss for the Trojans after going five innings giving up three runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six. Vincent Tavares tossed ⅔ of an inning in relief giving up a run on a pair of hits and a pair of walks while Shamus Barrett went an inning giving up four unearned runs on three hits.

Softball

Lily Berman led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (2-1) with four hits, a pair of runs and an RBI as the Trojans beat Plymouth North 9-3 on the road in non-league action. Madi Delano had three hits and an RBI while Talia Faria had a pair of hits and a pair of RBIs and Olivia Roy had a triple as well as a pair of runs and an RBI.

Friday

Baseball

Dwayne Burgo led the way at the plate for Taunton (4-1, 4-1 Hockomock), going 1-for-3 with a pair of runs and three RBIs as the Tigers beat Mansfield 12-2 in six innings at home in Hockomock action. Brayden Cali went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and an RBI while Johnny Escobalez went 1-for-2 with a run and a pair of RBIs, Joe Benoit and Caden Lindskog each went 1-for-2 with a run and an RBI and Jace Galante and Cam Dorr both went 1-for-2 with a run. Jack Cali earned the win for the hosts, going four innings giving up a pair of runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out five. Ryan Crowley tossed a scoreless inning in relief giving up two hits while striking out one and Cam Tomaszycki pitched the final scoreless inning striking out one.

Devin Foley led the way for Bristol-Plymouth (0-3, 0-1 MAC), tossing four innings in relief giving up a run on a pair of hits and a walk while striking out three and going 0-for-1 with a run off a walk as the Craftsmen were no hit by Malden Catholic on the road in 3-1 non-league loss. Jake LaPlante was credited with the loss for B-P after going two innings giving up a pair of runs on a pair of hits and a walk while striking out three.

Aidan Melo led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (2-1, 1-0 SCC), going 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs as the Falcons fell 15-4 in 4½ innings to Bishop Feehan on the road in non-league action. Maddex Mendoza and Ben Miller went 1-for-3 with a run while Lucas LeTourneau went 1-for-2 with a run. Gavin Salera took the loss for D-R after going one inning giving up six runs on two hits and four walks while striking out one. Ace Fortin tossed two innings giving up seven runs (four earned) on four hits and six walks while striking out three before Gavin Hayden tossed the final inning giving up a pair of runs on three hits.

Boys Lacrosse

Shane Lynds led the way for Taunton (1-4, 1-3 Hockomock) with two goals as the Tigers fell 9-5 to Dighton-Rehoboth at home in non-league action. Blake Mitchell had a goal and an assist while Kevin Araujo and Scott Heger both found the back of the net, Jose Touron had a pair of assists and Dylan Simmons and Jake Pereira each recorded an assist.

Bridgewater-Raynham (4-1) fell 7-6 to Mansfield at home.

Jaiden Solitro, Jack Swan and Julian Bowers each recorded a hattrick as Dighton-Rehoboth (1-4, 0-4 SCC) beat Taunton 9-5 on the road in non-league action.

Girls Lacrosse

Cali Melo led the way for Taunton (0-5, 0-4 Hockomock) with five goals ,including her 100th career goal, as well as three assists and six draw as the Tigers fell 14-11 to Dighton-Rehoboth at home in non-league action. Maddi Szala had three goals and three assists while Taryn Campbell had three goals and 11 draws, Giovanna Guarino had a goal, an assist and a pair of draws, Talia O'Leary had a pair of assists and Olivia Espada made six saves.

Karina Bosco led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (2-1, 0-1 SCC) with six goals, four draws and an assist as the Falcons beat Taunton 14-11 on the road in non-league action. Ainsley Zibrida had three goals, two assists and a apir of draws while Mara Levesque had a pair of goals and a pair of assists, Olivia Thibert had a pair of goals and three draws and Gia Papa had a goal and three assists. Phoebe Braga made five saves in net for D-R.

Boys Volleyball

Ian Hoskins led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (6-1, 5-0 TVL) with 17 kills while Yasiel Rodriguez had 29 assists, Connar Dexter had 11 blocks and Sam Courcy had 17 digs as the Falcons beat Nipmuc 3-2 (25-22, 24-26, 25-17, 19-25 and 15-13) on the road in TVL action.

Thursday

Brennan Silva led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (2-0, 1-0 SCC), going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI as the Falcons beat Norton 6-4 on the road in non-league action. Ben Miller went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI while Maddex Mendoza went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Will LaBrie earned the win for D-R after going all seven innings giving four runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out four.

Softball

Bridgewater-Raynham (1-1) fell 12-0 to Walpole at home in non-league action.

Boys Lacrosse

Brendan Rosher and Braeden Silva each recorded hat tricks as Bridgewater-Raynham (4-0) beat Old Rochester 14-3 at home.

Girls Lacrosse

Cali Melo led the way for Taunton (0-4, 0-4 Hockomock) with four goals, nine draws and a pair of assists as the Tigers fell 18-8 to Stoughton on the road in Hockomock action. Taryn Campbell had a pair of goals and six draws while Giovanna Guarino had a goal, an assist and a pair of draws, Talia O'Leary had a goal and Kassidy Ferrarese recorded a pair of assists.

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (1-3, 1-0 SEC) with four goals and an assist as the Trojans fell 17-10 to Attleboro on the road in non-league action. Audrey Lambert had a pair of goals while Lexi White had a goal and an assist, Kate Lambert, Emily Long and Grace LaRose each had a goal and Izzy Rossi recorded an assist.

Bristol-Plymouth (2-3, 2-3 MAC) fell 12-8 to Old Colony at home in MAC action.

Baseball

Andrew Cali led the way at the plate for Taunton (3-1, 3-1 Hockomock), going 2-for-4 with a run as the Tigers fell 6-2 to Franklin at home in Hockomock action. Joe Benoit went 1-for-1 with a run and a pair of walks while Dwayne Burgo went 0-for-3 with an RBI. Brady Morin was credited with the loss after going four innings giving up six runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out four. Johnny Escobalez tossed 2⅓ shutout innings walking a pair while striking out one before Ryan Crowley tossed the final ⅔ of an inning striking out one.

Cam Wilbur led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (0-2, 0-1 MAC), going 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs as the Craftsmen fell 8-3 to Diman at home in MAC action. Brayden Alves went 2-for-3 with a run and was a no decision on the mound after going four innings giving up a run on a pair of hits and a pair of walks while striking out two. Jamarri Harris went 0-for-3 with a run off a walk while Jake LaPlante went 2-for-3 with a triple. Kyle Weldon was credited with the loss for B-P after going 1⅔ innings in relief giving up six runs on three hits and five walks while striking out one.

Softball

Cate Larson led the way for Taunton (4-0, 4-0 Hockomock), tossing all seven innings giving up a run on five hits while striking out nine and also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a run and a pair of RBIs as the Tigers beat Franklin 10-1 on the road in Hockomock action. Madison Crowley went 2-for-4 with three RBIs while Mia Torres went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs, Adrianna Amaral went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI, Chelsea Bousquet went 1-for-1 with a pair of runs and a walk and Bella Bourque went 2-for-5 with an RBI.

Shelby Estrella led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (2-1, 1-0 MAC), going 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Diman 6-5 on the road in MAC action. Bree Aldrich went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI while Molly Clark went 2-for-3 with a run. Aubrey Mabrouk earned the win for B-P, tossing all seven innings giving up five runs (four earned) on 11 hits and a walk while striking out nine.

Boys Lacrosse

Blake Mitchell and Josh Letourneau led the way offensively for Taunton (1-3, 1-3 Hockomock) with a goal and an assist each while Braden Lachance and Jose Touron also found the back of the net as the Tigers beat Stoughton 4-2 at home in Hockomock action. The victory marks the first Hockomock win since the program's return to varsity status last year and the second ever Hockomock win in program history.

Andrew Flanagan led the way for Bristol-Plymouth (3-2, 3-2 MAC) with four goals as the Craftsmen beat Westport 10-3 at home in MAC action. Jack Nickerson had a pair of goals and five assists while James Dolan had a pair of goals and an assist, Jake Lamontagne had a goal and an assist, Alex Taccini had a goal and Shane Russo and Landon Pearson each recorded an assist. Goalie Kelan Reis made seven saves for B-P while Kyle Garbit won all six of his draws.

Fletcher O'Connor scored his first varsity goal as Dighton-Rehoboth (0-4, 0-1 SCC) fell 16-4 to Apponequet at home in SCC action.

Girls Lacrosse

Bristol-Plymouth (2-2, 2-2 MAC) beat Bristol Aggie 10-1 on the road in MAC action.

Karina Bosco led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (1-1, 0-1 SCC) with five goals, five draws and an assist as the Falcons fell 17-10 to Apponequet on the road in SCC action. Gia Papa had a pair of goals and a pair of assists while Olivia Thibert had a pair of goals and three assists, Kelsey Palmer had a goal and a pair of draws, Mara Levesque had a pair of assists and Ainsley Zibrida had an assist and five draws. Phoebe Braga made 17 saves in net for D-R.

Girls Track and Field

Camden Strandberg and Alisha Gomes both had double wins for Bridgewater-Raynham (2-0, 2-0 SEC), with Strandberg winning the mile and high jump while Gomes won the 100 meter and 200 meter as the Trojans beat Dartmouth 76-60 on the road in an SEC dual meet. Other wins for B-R include Lily Giurleo in the 400 meter, Brenna Woodbury in the 800 meter, Molly Jessop in the two mile, Enna Mitchell in the javelin, Kelsie Dessaps in the long jump and the 4x400 meter team of Cori Cahill, Stranberg, Mitchell and Woodbury.

Girls Tennis

Sarah Riveiro won second singles 6-2, 7-6 while the duo of Caroline Pietnik and Sam Parrett won second doubles 7-5, 7-5 as Taunton (1-2, 1-2 Hockomock) fell 3-2 to Franklin at home in Hockomock action.

Boys Volleyball

Travis Johnson led the way for Taunton (1-5) with 13 kills as the Tigers were swept 3-0 (20-25, 20-25 and 17-25) by Quincy on the road. Daniel Freitas had 17 assists, three digs and a kill while Ikechukwu Asiegbunam had 11 aces and three kills.

Tuesday

Baseball

Dwayne Burgo led the way at the plate for Taunton (3-0, 3-0 Hockomock), going 3-for-5 with a pair of runs and four RBIs as the Tigers beat Canton 11-0 on the road in Hockomock action. Brayden Cali went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI, Jared Spencer went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs, Caden Lindskog went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI and Joe Benoit went 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Cam Tomaszycki earned the win for Taunton, going three shutout innings in relief giving up a pair of hits while striking out three. Alex Hebert Jr. started and went two shutout innings giving up a hit and two walks while striking out two and Tyler Lacerda tossed the final two shutout innings, giving up a hit while striking out a pair.

Softball

Cam Cloonan led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (3-0), going 2-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBIs as the Falcons beat Dartmouth 7-4 at home in non-league action. Lucy Latour went 2-for-4 with a run while Caleigh Cloonan went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Allie Bastis went 1-for-3 with a run, Haleigh Kelley went 1-for-3 with an RBI and Izzy Moss went 0-for-2 with a walk and a pair of runs. Edy Latour earned the win for D-R, going four innings in relief giving up two runs on seven hits while striking out six and also went 1-for-3 with a run at the plate. Hannah Carey started for the Falcons, going 1⅔ scoreless innings giving up six walks while striking out one and Kylie Hillier went 1⅓ innings giving up two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out two.

Boys Lacrosse

Bristol-Plymouth (2-2, 2-2 Mayflower Athletic Conference) fell 11-5 on the road to Upper Cape Tech in MAC action.

Girls Lacrosse

Emily Keefe led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (1-2, 1-0 Southeast Conference) with five goals while as the Trojans beat New Bedford 13-2 at home in SEC action. Emily Long had three goals and an assist while Ashley McLaren had a pair of goals, Lexi White had a goal and an assist, Erin Rennie and Grace LaRose each had a goal and Sydney O'Donnell recorded an assist.

Boys Track and Field

Dmitrius Shearrion led the way for Taunton (1-1, 1-1 Hockomock), winning both the 100 meter (0:10.5, personal best) and the 200 meter (0:21.5) as the Tigers fell 93-43 to Franklin at home in a Hockomock dual meet. Other winners include Ancil Alexander in both the shot put (48"8.5') and discus (136'7") and Usman Yusif in the 400 meter (0:53.7, personal best).

Girls Track and Field

Emersyn DePonte won the 800 meter with a time of 2:28.8 while Bella Coughlin won the triple jump with a total distance of 34'4.5" as Taunton (0-2, 0-2 Hockomock) fell 110-26 to Franklin at home in a Hockomock dual meet.

Boys Tennis

Bridgewater-Raynham (0-4, 0-1 SEC) was swept 5-0 by Dartmouth at home in SEC action.

Girls Tennis

Nicole Kimball won first singles 6-0, 6-0 while Eily Mitchell won second singles and Megan McInnis won third singles 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 as Bridgewater-Raynham (2-2, 1-0 SEC) defeated Dartmouth 3-2 on the road in SEC action.

Boys Volleyball

Ian Hoskins had seven kills while Yasiel Rodriguez had 11 assists as Dighton-Rehoboth (5-1, 4-0 TVL) swept Attleboro 3-0 (25-9, 25-9 and 25-9) on the road in non-league action.

Owen King led the way for Bridgewater-Raynham (2-1), going 1-for-3 with a run and RBI off a solo home run while also tossing one and a third shutout innings striking out one as the Trojans fell 7-2 to Barnstable on the road in non-league action. Connor Nichols took the loss for B-R after going 1⅔ innings giving up five runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk while striking out two.

Jordan Castro led the way for Dighton-Rehoboth (1-0, 1-0 South Coast Conference), going 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs while Gavin Salera went 2-for-3 with a pair of runs as the Falcons beat Case 7-2 at home in SCC action. Ben Miller earned the win for D-R after going five innings giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks while striking out eight.

Softball

Bella Bourque led the way at the plate for Taunton (3-0, 3-0 Hockomock League), going 3-for-4 with four runs and three RBIs as the Tigers beat Canton 20-0 in five innings at home in Hockomock action. Aniyah Bailey went 3-for-4 with three runs and a pair of RBIs while Brooke Aldrich went 2-for-3 with three runs and a pair of RBIs and Gracie Oliveira went 1-for-2 with a run and a pair of RBIs off her first varsity home run. Sam Lincoln earned the win, going all five shutout innings giving up a hit and a walk while striking out 13 and going 2-for-3 with three runs at the plate.

Shelby Estrella led the way at the plate for Bristol-Plymouth (1-1), going 4-for-4 with four RBIs as the Craftsmen beat Nauset 21-2 in five innings on the road in non-league action. Bree Aldrich went 2-for-5 with three runs and an RBI while Morghyn Shaw went 0-for-1 with five runs, Victoria D'Aiello went 2-for-3 with a run and a pair of RBIs and Isabella Torres went 2-for-2 with a run and an RBI. Gabrianna Arrighi earned the win for B-P after going three innings giving up two runs on a pair of hits and four walks while striking out seven.

Haleigh Kelley led the way at the plate for Dighton-Rehoboth (2-0), going 3-for-4 with a home run, a pair of runs and four RBIs as the Falcons beat Middleboro 10-1 on the road in non-league action. Lucy Latour went 4-for-5 with a pair of runs and a pair of RBIs while sister Edy Latour earned the win for D-R after going all seven innings giving up a run on six hits and three walks while striking out seven.

Boys Lacrosse

Oren Cullins made 20 saves in net as Taunton (0-3, 0-3 Hockomock) fell 9-0 to Attleboro at home in Hockomock action.

Dighton-Rehoboth (0-3) fell 9-4 to Bellingham on the road in Hockomock action.

Girls Lacrosse

Cali Melo led the way for Taunton (0-3, 0-3 Hockomock) with four goals, six draws and an assist as the Tigers fell 22-6 to Attleboro on the road in Hockomock action. Maddi Szala had a pair of goals and a pair of assists while Gia Guarino had an assist and a draw and Taryn Campbell had seven draws. Goalie Olivia Espada made four saves for the visitors.

Girls Tennis
