WHAT'S NEW: With the departure of Brennan Betz to Central Catholic, the Hornets will have to groom a new starting quarterback this season. Sophomore Owen McCroskey started camp as the frontrunner. ... Coach John "Spider" Miller is also looking forward to seeing newcomers Ian Spencer, Canaan Pollard, Andrew McCrary and Braydon Moore grow into their roles. Spencer is expected to start at cornerback. Moore, a freshman, is slated to start at offensive guard. Pollard will be the Hornets kicker. McCrary is an offensive lineman and linebacker.

OUTLOOK: The Hornets have just 26 players in grades 9 through 12. It's the lowest number Miller has had in his eight seasons at East Canton. He isn't fazed, though. "Hey, we're good," he said. "I'll take all of them. They'll fight through the wall for you." With low numbers and many players going both ways, staying healthy will be important. Miller is confident his team will be in every game. "We will compete with all of our opponents," he said.
