Does Chase Field have air conditioning? What to know about AC at Diamondbacks stadium

As Arizona’s sweltering summer looms, Chase Field has some tools at hand to beat the heat.

According to the Diamondbacks’ website, the 26-year-old baseball field has an air conditioning system specifically designed to cool down buildings intended for large crowds.

Known as the Northwinds cooling system, this air conditioning system is faster than the prior system, which allows the roof to occasionally remain open during the daytime.

Aside from the air conditioning and retractable roof, Chase Field also features the first pool in a Major League Baseball stadium, according to the Diamondbacks’ website. The pool is a cool 415 feet away from home plate and has caught more than a few home run balls. The first was on May 12, 1998, by Cubs player Mark Grace.

Near the pool is a hot tub, where you might find D. Baxter, the Diamondbacks’ bobcat mascot, taking a quick soak.

There will be some events at Chase Field during Arizona’s hot weather months, including a list on the Diamondbacks’ website.
