Meet the Post's championship picks and find district tournament schedules

Class 1A - District 8

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Pahokee at No. 4 Wildwood, 7 p.m.

Semifinals: PK/WW at No. 1 Williston; No. 3 Bronson at No. 2 Glades Day, 3 p.m.

The Post's championship pick: Glades Day − The Gators would be the visiting team this go-round, but rest assured they're still burned after a fourth-inning scoring surge saw the Red Devils return to Williston with an upset for the district title in 2023.

Class 2A - District 14

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Lake Worth Christian (6-9) at No. 4 Atlantic Christian (9-10); No. 6 Berean Christian (7-11-2) at No. 3 Jupiter Christian (8-10-1), 4:30 p.m.

Semifinals: LWC/AC at No. 1 Trinity Christian (8-12); JCS/BC at No. 2 Boca Raton Christian (10-9)

The Post's championship pick: Trinity Christian − With the toughest schedule in their district, the Warriors have lived up to their namesake this season. The battle-tests helped Trinity produce a 22-3 final against Boca Christian in the regular season finale on Thursday.

Class 3A

District 8

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Glades Central (3-13) at No. 4 Gateway Charter (9-12), 4 p.m.

Semifinals: Gateway/GC at No. 1 Bishop Verot (20-5); No. 3 Clewiston (7-15) at No. 2 Oasis (12-9), 6 p.m.

The Post's championship pick: Bishop Verot − The Fort Myers-based Vikings have been on a revenge tour since last spring's region semifinal loss to state champion Calvary Christian. Judging by a -0.23 schedule strength for No. 2 Oasis compared to a 9.32 for Bishop Verot, there's not much getting in the latter's way of punching tickets for states.

District 11

Cardinal Newman's Sam Lovitz pitched a no-hitter – or a one-hitter – against American Heritage-Plantation last week.
Cardinal Newman's Sam Lovitz pitched a no-hitter – or a one-hitter – against American Heritage-Plantation last week.

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Lincoln Park Academy (10-8) at No. 4 Oxbridge (9-11), 4 p.m.

Semifinals: LPA/Oxbridge at No. 1 Cardinal Newman (19-5-1); No. 3 King's Academy (10-10) at No. 2 Benjamin (14-9)

The Post's championship pick: Newman − After back-to-back losses to the Bucs ended the 2023 season, the Crusaders flipped the script this March with a 6-5 home win over their rivals. On the other side of the coin, Benjamin has suffered some additional tough losses to Jupiter, Heritage-Delray, and West Boca through April. If there was ever a time to find the fuel for a statement win, a likely district championship matchup this week would be it. The question is whether Newman's arms will allow it.

District 12

Semifinals: No. 4 Saint Andrew's (8-9-1) at No. 1 North Broward Prep (21-3), 7 p.m.; No. 3 St. John Paul II (10-13-1) at No. 2 Coral Springs Charter (14-9)

The Post's championship pick: North Broward Prep − The Eagles are ranked third in the state and look primed for another final four finish. However, it wouldn't be shocking to see St. John Paul II give North Broward a run for its money should they down Coral Springs Charter. Back in March, SJPII defeated the Panthers, 10-2.

Class 4A - District 13

The Dr. Joaquín García baseball team faces American Heritage-Delray on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 in a regular season matchup.

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Pompano Beach (9-9) at No. 4 Dr. Joaquin Garcia (11-14); No. 6 Northeast (12-5) at No. 3 Jensen Beach (14-10), 6 p.m.; No. 7 Somerset Canyons (10-16) at No. 2 American Heritage-Delray (14-10), 6:30 p.m.

Semifinals: PB/DJG at No. 1 Cardinal Gibbons (18-4-2); NE/JB vs. SAC/AHD at higher-seed

The Post's championship pick: Heritage-Delray − If Gibbons had claimed its 8-4 dub over Heritage-Delray anytime later than the third game of the season, it'd be easier to not chalk that final score up to dust. Now, the Stallions are riding a five-game win streak, highlighted by a noteworthy shutout of Benjamin, but that same momentum is required to upset Gibbons on the road.

Class 5A - District 14

Semifinals: No. 4 Okeechobee (11-13) at No. 1 American Heritage-Plantation (15-10), 4 p.m.; No. 3 South Fork (12-13) at No. 2 Suncoast (19-6), 7 p.m.

The Post's championship pick: Suncoast − A 4-3 walk-off win over Park Vista to close out the regular season should give the Chargers enough confidence to know that they can hang with the reigning state champion Patriots in the final round of districts. In comparison to Suncoast's rout of opponents, rated 5.68, a 13.59-rating for Heritage-Plantation is nothing short of hellacious, and the Chargers will feel the heat.

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Deerfield Beach (14-9) at No. 4 Seminole Ridge (13-13), 6:30 p.m.; No. 6 Atlantic (1-16) at No. 3 Martin County (18-7), 6:30 p.m.

Semifinals: Ridge/DB at No. 1 Dwyer (17-6-1), 6:30p.m.; MC/ATL at No. 2 West Boca Raton (14-11), 6:30 p.m.

The Post's championship pick: West Boca Raton− History has a way of repeating itself, and once again, the Bulls are the underdog heading into district finals. That was enough motivation for them to upset the Panthers at Dwyer for the district championship last spring. Granted Dwyer got its revenge eliminating West Boca in region semifinals, it seems the Bulls took it personally when creating their gauntlet of a schedule for the 2024 season. Yet, the Panthers' new culture brought about by first-year hire and former Marlins pitcher Jordan Yamamoto could see the Bulls' confidence rattled early.

Class 7A

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Royal Palm Beach (9-14) at No. 4 Palm Beach Gardens (8-16-1), 6:30 p.m.

Semifinals: RPB/PBG at No. 1 Jupiter (18-7), 6 p.m.; No. 3 Wellington (12-13) at No. 2 Palm Beach Central (13-12), 6 p.m.

The Post's championship pick: Jupiter − With a shiny 18-7 record, the Warriors' touted lineup of college commits and prospects is a clear favorite. However, young talent down the roster for Wellington and Palm Beach Central will make for an interesting championship opponent and, possibly, an unexpected ending.

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Lake Worth (7-10) vs. No. 4 Leonard (12-7)

Semifinals: JIL/LW at No. 1 Park Vista (14-11); No. 3 Forest Hill (11-14) vs. No. 2 Santaluces (15-10), 4:30 p.m.

The Post's championship pick: Park Vista − Five consecutive wins suggested the returning state-semifinalist Cobras had finally found their stride. Then in Thursday's regular season finale, Suncoast snapped it. Unfortunately for likely district final opponent Santaluces, even I-95 hath no fury like a Park Vista team − or FGCU pitcher signee Ethan Mattison − scorned.

District 13

Quarterfinals: No. 5 Coral Springs (7-17) at No. 4 Monarch (8-10), 4 p.m.; No. 6 Olympic Heights (6-16) at No. 3 Spanish River (11-10), 6 p.m.

Semifinals: CS/Monarch at No. 1 Stoneman Douglas (19-5), 6 p.m.; River/OH at No. 2 Boca Raton (18-7), 6 p.m.

The Post's championship pick: Boca Raton − Park Vista managed an upset of Douglas, and the Bobcats took down Vista, 3-2, on Apr. 8. There's no reason to believe that Boca won't shock the reigning state champions of 7A just as the squad's revival has surprised Palm Beach County throughout the season.
