Dickinson Gymnastic maintains dominance at second meet

Dec. 12—DICKINSON — It was another strong outing for the Dickinson High School Gymnastic team, who remained at home for their second week of competition in the season, as they again took the podium and toppled each category and opponent with a 147.625 total team score.

Junior Addison Fitterer had an exceptional performance, winning the all around with a 37.700 and coming in first in two of the events, including a near perfect 9.9 score on beam. Beam has long been the junior's specialty, winning first in the WDA her seventh grade year. Her performances have only become more fluid and difficult in the years since.Currently, her favorite event is the uneven bars, which she also took first with a 9.7.

"Addison had a fantastic meet with that 9-9 on beam and 9-7 on bars," Casey Berry, Midgets head coach, said. "It is just so clean. There is just no deduction in it. Just does everything without a wobble and everything has straight legs."

Junior Rylee Olson scored a 36.700 in the all around for second place in the event, a strong showing for the the gymnast who specializes on the floor with routines that garner 9+'s regularly. On Friday, Olson garnered another 9.5 and second place with a 9.400 on the bars.

Other programs are starting to heat up and could prove to be strong competition in the season. Wahpeton High School's Justice Christian took third in vault with a 8.950 and Grand Forks Taryn Swanson took bronze in the beam and floor routine.

Eighth grader Anna Karsky took a third place finish in bars with a 9.300 and her twin sister Elizabeth Karsky, was first in vault with a incredible 9.600 and sixth in the competition with an all around of 34.575

Freshman Aspen Roadarmel's hard work is recognized, finishing close behind first, taking second in both vault (9.000) and uneven bars (9.450).

The Midgets will be on the road for the remainder of the season's competitions in 2022, returning home in January. Their next event will be in Valley City on Friday, Dec. 16.

"We just need to keep grinding and working hard at practice and get our bodies a little bit mor e in shape for away competitions," Berry said. "I think that is going to be our main goal over this week and then going into the season after Christmas break is just focusing on our conditioning and fittest levels."
