Houston-area standout Devon Pryor announced Monday that he has reclassified himself from the 2024 recruiting class to the 2023 class, and the former LSU pledge committed to Texas for this upcoming season.

Texas took its recruiting losses with the 2023 class, but now it has made an addition.

Devon Pryor, a small forward from PSAT Academy in Houston who was a part of the 2024 recruiting class, announced Monday that he's reclassifying to 2023 and has committed to Texas for the upcoming season.

Pryor was committed to LSU before he decommitted and reopened his recruitment. The 6-foot-7 forward was the No. 122 overall prospect for the 2024 class. The wing also had offers from Colorado, Oklahoma State, Penn State and TCU.

According to Pryor, Longhorns coach Rodney Terry had an impact on his decision to commit due to the connection to his hometown and their prior relationship.

"My old high school coach plugged me with him when he was an assistant coach under Coach Beard," Pryor said in reporting from 247sports. "I took an unofficial visit there and he took me on my tour. He also has roots to my hometown of El Paso so it meant a lot that we could connect on that and not just basketball. Moving forward, we always kept in contact."

Texas took some hits this recruiting season, with top recruit Ron Holland leaving for the G League Ignite and AJ Johnson, another five-star, decommitting in favor of a professional stint in Australia. However, they made some notable additions in the transfer portal, with Texas-Arlington guard Chendall Weaver and veteran power forward Ze'Rik Onyema (UTEP) among them.

Longhorns starters Dillon Mitchell and Tyrese Hunter also decided to return to school after previously declaring for the NBA draft.
