Detroit Tigers' Casey Mize reports elbow soreness, lands on 10-day injured list with sprain

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Detroit Tigers placed Casey Mize on the 10-day injured list with a right elbow sprain.

The 24-year-old reported elbow soreness after Thursday's start against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. He allowed two runs on six hits and two walks in five innings.

Mize, the 2018 No. 1 overall pick, is undergoing further examination Friday by a doctor in Kansas City. The Tigers are viewing the injured list designation as a precautionary move, but Mize will miss at least one start.
