Detroit Tigers 2024 schedule: Opening Day on March 28 at Chicago White Sox

The Detroit Tigers released their 2024 schedule Thursday, beginning with Opening Day on March 28 against the Chicago White Sox — an American League Central opponent — at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The Tigers play their first six games on the road, facing the White Sox for a three-game series (March 28, March 30-31) and the New York Mets for a three-game series (April 1-3) at Citi Field.

The home opener at Comerica Park is scheduled for April 5 against the Oakland Athletics.

MLB has implemented a balanced schedule for the second year in a row.

The balanced schedule features two home and road series against the four AL Central teams, a home and road series against the 10 other AL teams and at least one home or road series against all 15 National League teams.

Eight NL teams visit Comerica Park: St. Louis Cardinals (April 29-May 1), Miami Marlins (May 13-15), Pittsburgh Pirates (May 28-29), Milwaukee Brewers (June 7-9), Washington Nationals (June 11-13), Philadelphia Phillies (June 24-26), Los Angeles Dodgers (July 12-14), Colorado Rockies (Sept. 10-12).

For the road games against the NL, the Tigers play the Mets (April 1-3), Pirates (April 8-9), Arizona Diamondbacks (May 17-19), Atlanta Braves (June 17-19), Cincinnati Reds (July 5-7), San Francisco Giants (Aug. 9-11), Chicago Cubs (Aug. 20-22) and San Diego Padres (Sept. 2, Sept. 4-5).

After the home-opening series against the Athletics (April 5-7), the Tigers travel to Pittsburgh for a two-game series with the Pirates (April 8-9) at PNC Park. Following the quick trip, the Tigers return to Comerica Park for an eight-game homestand against the Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers.

Eight of the first 11 games are on the road.

The Tigers will be in Minneapolis for the Fourth of July as part of a nine-game roadtrip against the Los Angeles Angels (June 27-30), Twins (July 2-4) and Reds (July 5-7). But the Tigers are playing in Detroit during Memorial Day weekend (May 23-26 vs. Blue Jays) and Labor Day weekend (Aug. 30-Sept. 1 vs. Red Sox).

On Mother's Day, the Tigers are scheduled to host the Houston Astros. Then on Father's Day, the Tigers will be in Houston.

The 2024 All-Star Game will take place on July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Tigers' first half ends at home against the Dodgers; the Tigers' second half begins on the road against the Toronto Blue Jays.
