Davion Hill, younger brother of Alize Johnson, commits to Missouri State basketball

Davion Hill shoots a basket as he trains at The Basketball Movement gym in Nixa on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. Hill is the brother of former MSU basketball star and current NBA Indiana Pacer Alize Johnson.

Davion Hill, a younger brother of former Missouri State men's basketball standout Alize Johnson, tweeted on Wednesday afternoon that he has committed to play for Dana Ford and the Bears.

Hill is coming off a standout career at Neumann Regional Academy in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. He played in 27 games this past season and averaged 34.3 points per game. He has been named Pennsylvania Class AA's Player of the Year for the past two seasons.

Hill was an all-state performer in all four seasons of high school basketball. The guard broke his county's career, single-season and single-game scoring records while leading his team to the state tournament.

According to Hill's Verbal Commits, he was also offered by Kent State and Towson. His Twitter also lists an offer from Maryland.

Johnson, Hill's older brother, is one of the best players to ever wear a Missouri State uniform. He played two seasons after transferring from Frank Phillips (Texas) College. He was drafted following the 2017-18 season, becoming the first Bear to be selected since Winston Garland in 1987. He has since been in and out of the NBA and was most recently playing for the NBA G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Another one of Johnson's young brothers, David Hill, walked on at Missouri State last season and redshirted. He has since entered the transfer portal.

Davion Hill has long been considered the prized recruit from Johnson's family. Also a football star in Pennsylvania, the 6-foot-2 guard will hope to follow in Johnson's footsteps as a standout in Springfield.

Hill takes what could be the final scholarship spot on the Bears' roster for the 2023-24 season. He joins fellow freshman Tyler Bey, Saint Louis guard Nick Kramer and Xavier forward Cesare Edwards as the team's newcomers.
