Dale Coyne Racing names Jack Harvey, Nolan Siegel, Colin Braun to 2024 IndyCar lineup

Three days before cars roll out on-track on the streets of St. Pete to kickoff the 2024 IndyCar season, fans have Dale Coyne Racing's lineup for this season.

Well, at least for the first couple races.

Tuesday morning, the team announced a trio of drivers, two of whom -- IndyCar veteran Jack Harvey and rookie Nolan Siegel -- will fill out its No. 18 Honda entry. Longtime sportscar ace Colin Braun is scheduled to kick off the season in St. Pete in DCR's No. 51 Honda and will also race in the $1 Million Challenge at The Thermal Club later this month "with the hopes of doing more races later this year."

Series veteran Jack Harvey will be one of several drivers to fill out Dale Coyne Racing's two full-time IndyCar entries in 2024.

After a rough two years with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, Harvey now takes over a senior role with a retooling DCR lineup where he'll run 14 races in 2024, starting with this weekend's season-opener in St. Pete after missing the final three races of 2023 when he and RLL parted ways before the season's end. Siegel, the 19-year-old California native, will take on the four events that don't conflict with his Indy NXT schedule with HMD Motorsports, as he eyes the 2024 championship after finishing third a year ago.

In doing so, he'll maintain his series rookie status for 2025 and make his first attempt at qualifying for the Indianapolis 500. Siegel will make his IndyCar debut later this month in the $1 Million Challenge at The Thermal Club and will also run at Long Beach and Toronto later this year.

For Braun, his IndyCar debut this weekend at 35 years old has been decades in the making, having had a father who served as a longtime series engineering while he was growing up. Braun's racing career began in formula cars, but an offer from Roush Fenway Racing in 2008 to become a full-time driver in the NASCAR trucks series shifted his focus. After years in the stock car world, including a 2009 trucks win at Michigan, Braun switched to sportscars in the American Le Mans series and eventually IMSA. There, he has two wins in class in the Rolex 24, along with his overall victory in 2023 with Meyer Shank Racing. He also owns three championships in the major American sportscar series.

"I think we have a great combination of drivers that will work well together, as they've shown at our tests in Homestead and Sebring," team owner Dale Coyne said in a release. "Jack brings a lot of experience to the team, and he immediately fit right in when he tested with us. Nolan impressed us at the Homestead test with how quickly he was up to speed for his first time in the car. And we already know what Colin Braun can do in a sportscar, and it was great to see him jump into our Indy car last week. He's jumping into the deep end with little time aboard one of these cars before his first race, but we're confident in his abilities and can't wait to see him back in the car this weekend in St. Petersburg."

IndyCar schedule 2024: TV, start times, more

With Tuesday's news, the 27-car 2024 IndyCar full-season lineup is now largely complete, minus the remaining races for DCR's No. 51, starting with Long Beach. Including Siegel and Braun, IndyCar will have six drivers classified as rookies this season, with two others (Marcus Armstrong and Pietro Fittipaldi) making their full-season debuts. Siegel's hiring in the No. 18 for the Indy 500 now gives the field for the 108th-running 33 confirmed drivers, still awaiting the pilot for DCR's No. 51, Abel Motorsport's decision on the No. 50 and the potential of AJ Foyt Racing running an extra car -- giving the field 35 or 36 cars for 33 spots come May.
