D’Angelo Russell is now the Lakers’ single-season leader in 3-pointers

D’Angelo Russell is having some kind of a season for the Los Angeles Lakers, He went through a major cold streak in December, and he was even benched for a while. During that time, he had to deal with constant rumors that he may get traded for Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray.

But he didn’t get shipped off, and even since mid-January, he has been mostly hot. He came into Friday’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers averaging 22.1 points and 6.8 assists while shooting 45.3% from 3-point range in his last 29 games.

On Friday, he put his name into the Lakers’ record book by surpassing Nick Van Exel for the most made 3-pointers in a single season. The record-breaking moment came with 6:15 left in the first quarter.

It is no coincidence that L.A. has been winning games with greater regularity ever since Russell was reinserted into the starting lineup and began his current hot streak.
