In a season in which the Crew is preparing to hit a high in total matches, the club has added an English Premier League matchup to their schedule as Columbus is set to host Aston Villa on Saturday, July 27.

A Leagues Cup Showcase match, this is the first time the Crew will face an English Premier League team at Lower.com Field. With Columbus having a bye into the round of 32 for this season's Leagues Cup as the 2023 MLS Cup champions, it opens the window for the club to host this matchup.

“This special competition between Crew and Aston Villa," said Haslam Sports group chief of strategy and development Josh Glessing in a statement. "Two historic clubs that rank among the top of their respective leagues in championships and are also currently experiencing success on the pitch, as we start the defense our 2023 MLS Cup and Villa is competing for a Champions League berth."
