The U.S. women's national soccer team will compete in Columbus when Lower.com Field hosts the 2024 SheBelieves Cup Championship and third-place matchup on April 9, U.S. Soccer has confirmed to The Dispatch. An official announcement from the federation is expected to be made on Friday.

SheBelieves Cup is U.S. Soccer's annual invitational tournament, and the field includes the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Japan. This marks the ninth iteration of the tournament, with USWNT vying to take home the cup from the seventh time after emerging victorious in 2023.

"This is a tournament that features three teams already in the Olympics and Japan having a great chance to qualify," US interim coach Twila Kilgore said in a statement. "These are the exact kinds of games we need to evaluate players and continue to push our team as we prepare for France."

Kicking off the tournament at Merecedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, the USWNT will open against Japan on April 6 before heading to Columbus. This year's format has been slighted altered due to the FIFA competition windows. The SheBelieves Cup usually takes place in February or March across six matches, but the 2024 edition will feature only four.

This will be second time the USWNT is taking the field at Lower.com since its opening in 2021, the first time coincidentally taking place on April 9, 2022, with a friendly against Uzbekistan. Furthermore, the USWNT has a long history of playing in Columbus, dating back in 1993.

Presale for tickets to the games is expected to start on Monday, Jan. 22, with tickets opening to the general public on Thursday, Jan. 24. The USWNT game is set for 7:00 p.m.
