Colorado women’s basketball 2023-24 player profile: Aaronette Vonleh
Last year’s Colorado Buffaloes women’s basketball team got a massive boost from the transfer portal when head coach JR Payne managed to land center Aaronette Vonleh. The former Arizona Wildcat quickly became a starter for a Buffs team that went deep into the NCAA Tournament.
Now in her second season with the Buffs, the junior post remains a core member of the squad and is a big reason why Colorado is receiving plenty of hype.
With the 2023-24 college basketball season now underway, Vonleh takes “center” stage in our latest Colorado women’s basketball player profile. Here’s what you should know about Vonleh:
Biography
Position: Center

2022-23 statistics
Minutes per game: 26.4
Points per game: 12.2

2022-2023 season highlight
Vonleh was incredibly consistent last season, scoring in the double-figures 25 times, including three games where she scored 20-plus points. At Oregon, she dominated her way to 22 points and eight rebounds on 10-of-15 shooting. The 22 points were her most of the year until the last game of the regular season when Vonleh hit 11 of her 14 field goals against Cal en route to scoring 25 points. All of that and more led Vonleh to be named an all-conference honorable mention and the Co-Pac-12 Most Improved Player.
What Vonleh brings to the team
When Vonleh gets the ball down low, she finishes. She was second in the Pac-12 with her 58.5 field goal percentage. As a center, Vonleh has incredible touch around the rim and has great hands to receive passes.
What Vonleh needs to improve upon this season
Because she is in the post so much, I would love to see Vonleh improve her free-throw shooting. This could be a deadly weapon that could raise her scoring averages. I would also like to see her improve her rebounding numbers as she will be battling the opposing centers of the other teams. If she can keep opposing players off the glass, CU will be tough to beat.
