Colorado State at Wyoming football: predictions, odds, and how to watch Mountain West game
The Mountain West kicks off Week 10 action in Wyoming Friday night with the Wyoming Cowboys (5-3, 2-2 Mountain West) hosting the Colorado State Rams (3-5, 1-3).
The Cowboys started the year strong with a 3-1 record before the start of the conference season. A 35-33 win over Texas Tech in double overtime preceded a 31-17 win over Portland State to move the Cowboys' record to 2-0 to start the fall.
A week later, Wyoming gave Texas a scare before the Longhorns won 31-10. A 22-19 win over Appalachain State made it 3-1 before the Cowboys' Mountain West opener against New Mexico.

Running back Harrison Waylee led the Cowboys offense in a 35-26 win over New Mexico. The next week the Cowboys knocked off then-No. 24 Fresno State 24-19 to end one of the longest winning streaks in the country.
“Obviously we take them one at a time, but this was a big, big win over a program we have not had a great deal of success with,” Wyoming coach Craig Bohl said after the game. “I do know we beat a good football team that was undefeated and in the top 25. It wasn’t a fluke.”
That Oct. 7 game marked the last win for Wyoming. Road losses to Air Force by a score of 34-27 and Boise State 32-7 moved the Cowboys down to 0.500 at the halfway mark of the conference schedule.

The pre-conference schedule made for an exciting four games for the Rams. A 50-24 loss to Washington State in the season opener preceded an early bye week. That extra time helped Colorado State build the hype for a Week 3 game against rival Colorado, including comments by Rams coach Jay Norvell aimed at Buffaloes coach Deion Sanders.
The Rams forced double overtime but the Buffaloes won 43-35.
"This rivalry has been going on way longer before I got here and it’s going to be going on way after I leave," Norvell said after the game. "There’s always bad blood, that’s just the way it is. It doesn’t matter what me or Deion say. It’s going to be bad blood. You’ve got to get your team to play. That’s the key and so, yeah, those comments were for my kids."
A 31-23 win over Middle Tennessee and a 41-20 win over Utah Tech eased the Rams into Mountain West play.
But like the Cowboys, Colorado State enters Friday's game on a two-game losing streak. No. 17 Air Force won 30-13 in Fort Collins last Saturday after UNLV eked out a close 25-23 win the week prior. A wild, last-second 31-30 win over Boise State gave the Rams their only Mountain West win of the season so far.
The two teams both need wins considering their place in the Mountain West standings. The Rams head to Laramie looking for a win to move out of the glut of one-win teams, including Utah State, New Mexico, and San Diego State. Wyoming's been perfect at home in 2023 and can bank another win to move farther up the conference standings towards frontrunners like Air Force, Fresno State, and UNLV.
