ADRIAN — The Adrian College and Siena Heights wrestling teams began a new tradition Sunday with the Saints hosting the Maple City Cup duals.

The women's team, which hosted its first dual in program history, defeated the Bulldogs, 27-20, while the AC men got the best of SHU, 35-13.

In the women's dual, the Saints led 21-5 through the first six matches, but the Bulldogs battled back with three-straight wins to make it 21-20 going into the final match. At 191 Mia Delgado stepped into the circle and got a pin to seal the win.

On the men's side, the Saints and Bulldogs exchanged leads with SHU going up 13-12 at the midway point of the dual.

However, it was all Adrian from then on out as the Bulldogs won the final five matches.

Coach Thoughts

Dominic Adams, SHU: One of our sayings is find a way. We had to shuffle the lineup in our first home dual and beat a very good Adrian College team that's ranked. It was a good start, but there is more work to be done.

Cliff Cushard, Adrian: There were four matches we thought could go either way and we were hoping to get two of them and we didn't get any of them. That was the difference.
