College football betting: Early Week 3 line movement

With two weeks in the books for the college football season, we're starting to feel a little more confident in our assessment of teams. However, we're always looking to see how the betting market feels about these teams as well. Which lines have seen significant movement at BetMGM ahead of Week 3?

Spread and total on the move for Bama-Florida

Arguably the most intriguing and important game on Saturday's slate is in Gainesville, Florida. The Gators play host to the country's best team in Alabama. The spread for this game opened at a flat 14 points, but to the shock of nobody, it's on the move in favor of Alabama. Currently, the Crimson Tide are 15-point favorites at BetMGM.

We've also seen the total tick up a touch. The total opened at 58 points, but the current over/under is now 59.5 points. With Bryce Young being the current Heisman favorite, it's no surprise to see bettors backing the Crimson Tide offense.

Three totals worth monitoring

In the most non-shocking news of the day, people are expecting points in Oxford. After opening with a total of 71, the current over/under for the Ole Miss vs. Tulane contest is all the way up to 76 points. Lane Kiffin might be the brightest offensive mind in the country, and Matt Corral is an early Heisman contender. Bettors are expecting points, and you can't blame them.

With that being said, there are two games on the slate that have moved in favor of the under. The total for Pittsburgh vs. Western Michigan is down to 58 after opening at 61 earlier in the week. Likewise, the total for Boston College vs. Temple is down three points as well. After opening at 60.5, that total now sits at 57.5.

Fading the country's worst teams

When ranking the worst teams in the country, most lists would feature Connecticut and Massachusetts. Some lists would also feature the New Mexico Lobos.

It's no surprise to see these three teams being faded once again in Week 3.

Army opened as a 31-point favorite against UConn. That line now sits at 34 on BetMGM.

Texas A&M had a scare against Colorado last week, but that doesn't look likely to repeat itself this week. The Aggies are currently 29.5-point favorites against New Mexico, after opening as 26.5-point favorites.

The line is even moving heavily in favor of Eastern Michigan this week as well. These are the benefits of having UMass on tap. UMass is now a 22-point underdog after opening as just 17.5-point underdogs.

Other notable movements

UCF is now a 7-point favorite against Louisville. The line opened at 8.

Coastal Carolina sits as a 14-point road favorite against Buffalo. The opening line saw the Chanticleers as just ten-point favorites.

After firing their coach on Tuesday, USC has seen the line move against them. The Trojans are currently 8.5-point favorites against Washington State after opening as 9.5-point favorites.

Utah has gone from 7-point favorites to 9-point favorites on the road against San Diego State.

LSU opened as 22-point favorites against Central Michigan. That line is down to just 19.5 points.

Line movement is going against the blue turf. Boise State is down to a 3.5-point favorite at home against Oklahoma State. Earlier in the week, the Broncos were 4.5-point favorites.
