Clyde's Gracie Caperton wins Class 3A girls singles state tennis championship

Clyde's Gracie Caperton was crowned the UIL Class 3A state champion after winning the girls singles tennis title Friday at the Blossom Athletic Center in San Antonio.

Caperton defeated Corpus Christi London's Kailey Albrecht in the finals with a score of 7-6(6), 6-1.

In Class 5A mixed doubles, Trevor Short and Hope Willis from Wylie advanced to the semifinals before falling to Frisco Lebanon Trail's Aaditt Rishi and Addison Rosser.

Also in Class 5A, Andrea and Sebastian Delgado advanced to the finals in mixed doubles before falling to Rishi and Rosser in the championship match.

In Class 2A, Albany had several players in action at the state tournament. Luke Marshall advanced to the finals in boys singles before falling to Mason Hartfield from Mason.

In girls singles, Sidney Russell won her quarterfinals match before falling to Aubrey Carroll from Crawford in the semifinals.

Jaci Chapman and Robyn Trail also won their quarterfinal match in girls doubles, but fell in the semifinals.

In mixed doubles, Abi Hale and Jake Hale fell in the quarterfinals.

Also in Class 2A, Morgan Miller and Hannah Stoll from Forsan fell in the girls doubles quarterfinals to Mason's Jakelin Zermeno and Scout Magnus.

Hawley's duo of Benedict Patanpantan and Francis Patanpantan fell to Abel Silvas and Anish Bhakta from Quanah in the quarterfinals in boys doubles. Aubrie Fraizer and Kylar Cory, who are also from Hawley, came up short against Crawford's Grayson Allison and Mabreigh Cohrs in the quarterfinals of girls doubles.
