Clemson softball score vs. North Carolina: Live updates from ACC Tournament
No. 9 Clemson softball opens play at the ACC Tournament on Thursday at Melissa Cook Stadium in South Bend, Indiana. The Tigers are the No. 3 seed in the tournament and, after a first-round bye, face No. 6-seed North Carolina.
Clemson (45-8, 18-6 ACC) ended the regular season with a series loss at Virginia Tech. It was one of only two conference series losses for the Tigers.
The Tar Heels (24-26, 13-10) won their final four ACC series and finished the regular season with a midweek win over Furman. Clemson and North Carolina did not meet in the regular season this year.
The winner of Thursday's quarterfinal matchup will face the winner of No. 2-seed Duke vs. No. 10-seed Georgia Tech in the semifinals on Friday. Clemson made the ACC Tournament final in each of the past two seasons but lost both times, first to Duke in 2021 and then to Florida State in 2022.
