The Oklahoman’s championship picks

Hallie Hart: Putnam West. Defense wins championships, and the Patriots – who have appeared in ESPN’s national high school girls basketball rankings – are outstanding defensively. Putnam West shares the ball as three scorers average double figures, and OU signee Caya Smith is a key leader. The Patriots are the only team that has defeated reigning state champion Edmond North this year.

Jordan Davis: Edmond North. The Huskies offense has been in sync all season and forward Allison Heathcock has been a key catalyst to that. The Creighton commit's 20.9 points and seven rebounds per game have lead Edmond North to a 24-1 record and enter the state tournament riding an 13-game win streak. Edmond North looks to be the first-ever 6A team to 3-peat and coach Pete Papahronis has the rolling Huskies in prime position to make history.
