Atlhetic feats covered every surface Thursday. Our Fantastic Five athletes hurled themselves down a snowy mountain, glided through cool water and sprinted across track and hardwood.
Each player accomplished their goal in their own way, but they call came out on top. Here are the Fantastic Five MetroWest high school athletes from Thursday, Jan. 11:
MARTY MCCRAVE, Tri-County boys indoor track & field
The junior showed his middle distance chops in a 54-46 loss against Diman on Thursday. He won the 1,000-meter run in 2 minutes, 50 seconds and the mile in 4:47. Cougars (1-4, 1-3 Mayflower) teammate Nate Howard took first in the shot put at 41 feet, 8 inches.
SEAN O'LEARY, Franklin boys basketball
The reigning Hockomock MVP dropped 24 points to push the Panthers (9-1) to their fifth straight win Thursday.

ROBBIE RUDISILL/TYLER ROBINSON, Ashland boys basketball
They each hit double figures to lead the Clockers to a 57-48 road in over Norwood on Thursday. Rudisill scored a team-high 19 points, while Robionson had 18. Devin O'Brien chipped in 10 points for Ashland (3-5).
VIRGINIA WEEKS, Lincoln-Sudbury girls alpine skiing
The freshman took third in a 53-38 win against Concord Carlisle on Thursday. She placed first on the first run and fourth on the second. Kenzie Gabel was sixth, Sophie Ward placed eight, Sarah Danielson took 10th and Lauren Cacciatore raced 11th for L-S (1-0).
BRENDAN YAN, Algonquin boys swimming & diving
The senior captain won the 200-yard individual medley and 100 backstroke to help keep the Titans undefeated Thursday. Algonquin (6-0, 6-0 Midland Wachusett) bested Shrewsbury 121-48.

Girls swimming & diving
SHREWSBURY 93, Algonquin 66: Sophomore Mina Chung earned victories in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke Thursday. The Titans (3-3, 3-3 Mid-Wach) fell back to .500.
Girls indoor track & field
DIMAN 71, Tri-County 29: Cougars senior captain Averie Denelle won the high jump at 5-2 on Thursday. She also took second in the long jump (15-4) and 55 hurdles (9.53 seconds) for Tri-County (0-5, 0-4 Mayflower).
Boys alpine skiing
LINCOLN-SUDBURY 48, Concord-Carlisle 43: Freshmen Luke Danielson (sixth) and Will Gabel (ninth) paced the Warriors on Thursday. Sam Sparks took 10th, and Nick Boden was 11th for Lincoln-Sudbury (1-0).
